Are the 2017 Dodgers choking like the 1995 Angels?

On August 25th, less than two weeks ago, the Dodgers had a 21 game lead in the NL West standings. Now it has been trimmed in half to 10.5 games. Could you imagine the national embarrassment that would occur if the Dodgers were to lose the NL West? That would be the choke of the millennium or perhaps of all of human history. It would far top the choke jobs of the 1995 Angels and the 2007 Mets. That SI cover seems like a joke now. Their offense is producing goose eggs and the pitching has also been getting knocked around a bit, especially the bullpen.

Only a 10.5 game lead now? Well boo frickin' hoo.

Dodgers will still easily take the NL West. Anyone who thought they would keep up the pace they were on was sorely misguided.

I expected them to go into a stretch where they played some .500 ball. But this right now looks like a collapse. Much like we saw with the Angels in 1995. If all you do is score 0, 1, or 2 runs almost every ballgame and you're bullpen gets knocked around, then you're going to lose almost every game. Sure, all it takes is another hot stretch for the Dodgers to wrap up the division, but this team has zero life right now.

Hopefully it continues. Who doesn't love a good collapse?

It would be absolutely hilarious if they somehow finished 2nd in the West. It won't happen tho

It's kind of going as an extreme version of what most of us said would happen in that thread about them getting to 116.

Guys are beat up. A ton of AAAA players are getting opportunities. The foot is off the pedal while every team just wants to kick your ***. It probably feels like this is what you're going to see in the playoffs but it's probably not. It could because baseball is crazy though.

Well now they can't clinch next week at AT&T so that's a plus for Giants fans. Dave Roberts post game interview after last nights game said they were going to win the division. Its funny that the beat writers are even asking.
Although if the rocs take 4 then it will be a fun finish to the season.

Anybody seen Puig arrogantly yelling "see you in the World Series" to the cameras lately?

My god it would be fantastic if there was a major collapse like that and I'm not even a Dodgers hater. I just love seeing a big collapse like that. That being said there is a very very small chance it happens.

No, they are just slumping. Though I wish they would slump closer and into the playoffs.

Dodgers lose again tonight. It's now a 10-game lead.
