Sua Cravens thought to be retiring

Per Schefter on Twitter, apparently coaches talked him out of it for now

This kid had so much potential.

It's a shame to see him give it up, but I understand it.

I don't even care if he is talked out of it... if he has one foot out the door already, it's over.

    Best of luck to him.

Su'a Cravens is one of the most promising young players that the Washington Redskins have. He was the team's second round draft pick last season and had a very solid rookie season. But according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the team almost lost him far sooner than they would have liked.

Cravens reportedly told the team that he planned to retire, but "a meeting with the team's coaches and executives has changed his mind for now," according to Schefter. Cravens is currently recovering from a knee injury, but at this point it is unclear whether that influenced his thought process.

The Redskins, rather than punishing Cravens for such a decision, are reportedly planning to help him through the process and hope that he can come back strong at some point. He will miss the beginning of the season as he sorts through these issues, but the team would rather be without him for a few months than forever.

According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post., it's not the first time the second-year safety has pondered retirement. Cravens missed time during his rookie season with a concussion, and been vocal in the opinion that football is not his life. The former USC star went missing for one and a half days during the 2016 season, forcing the team to locate him. The situation mirrored a similar one during his collegiate days.

According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, the Washington Redskins will place the injured safety on the non-football exempt list, allowing him time to address personal matters. The news means that Cravens will be out for a month, at the very least.

    I think he is gone........sad

He's got some maturity issues, and sadly, we do not have the leadership to help him get rid of those on the roster. He came into USC as one of the younger players, same with being drafted.......he's gone MIA for two days with both teams. He has said football isn't for him long-term, and he's been dealing with a position change and injuries too, but again, we don't have the leaders to help him through this so it was on the coaches to try and salvage it. Only time will tell if Cravens will stick around though.

Could this be the answer ?........

Calvin Pryor III has been released by the Cleveland Browns, head coach Hue Jackson revealed Thursday.

Pryor allegedly was involved in a fist fight with wide receiver Ricardo Louis before practice according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot reported that Pryor was not at practice Thursday. Jackson said that he was being released for an 'internal matter.'

The safety was acquired from the New York Jets on June 1 in exchange for linebacker Demario Davis. Pryor, the No. 18 overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, has recorded 192 tackles, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and 0.5 sacks in his career.

The Louisville product will count $1,587,716 against the salary cap this season. His 2018 salary comes off the books.
