I don't think changes the rules or anything. I always assumed that rule said any game played Jan 1, 1990 or later is considered 90's player.

I think thats effectively bypassing the rule creating a loophole

Well the rule does say "single game in the 90s". A little weird rule but I don't think there was any confusion.

Yeah, but the 89/90 season is considered 90s era, and the 99/00 season is considered 00 era. It's a cheap loophole that Ebbs didn't think about (no offense, i didn't think of it either because it's a really really stupid loophole). Evidence is, that he even clarified "I'm okay with this."

It wasn't something that needed to be specified because we all knew what the rule was meant to be.

    Oh - and this

(To be clear, if he played in the 99-00 season but not in 00-01, he still counts as a '00s player.)

Applies my reasoning for why it's a dumb loophole. You just change 99-00 to 89-00, and he counts as a 00s player. In conjecture with You can't start more than two players who played a single game in the '00s on

It is clear as day what the nature of the rule was meant to be.

I don't know if I'd necessarily call it a loophole because I have to assume most would have considered that era is based on game played, as opposed to the season.

I don't have a clue which player you are talking about anyway lol.

Personally when I looked at players I looked at Bball-ref and as soon as I saw a year ending in 90 or 00 I assumed they counted.

Ok majority rules here. It's definitely a loop hole. Even if they didn't play in 1990, if they played in the 89-90 season they count as a 90s player.

Unfortunately not. If Joe Fulks shoots a free throw at his house from 1999-2000 as a 100 year old man, then he is still considered a 2000 player.
