Here's a thought: TJ Ward? I would think he is an upgrade to Reggie Nelson and old enough that the youngsters will still be able to take over. Another thought: CB Jeremy Lane from Seattle? I don't know much about him, but he's started a few games in the system that KNJ is desperate to replicate.

No and no. Ward is too expensive at a position where we have some depth. We need a proven commodity at CB not more "potential". Somebody better will come along.

Rather than players, I am thinking in terms of positions. I expect that the offensive side of the ball is pretty much set and we won't see any surprise cuts or pickups. The defense, as we all know, is a different story. We should be looking at all three levels. I'd welcome a veteran like Lane. And I will make a bold prediction: we will sign at least one D lineman and release either Ellis or Calhoun.

I would also welcome Lane. I like him. Would be better then TJ Carrie.

I can see Ellis or Calhoun being cut. Calhoun in college was a 43 DE who only had to set the edge and pass rush. In our hybrid defense he is being asked to do a lot more and just isnt working out. Hopefully if they feel he is on the cut list maybe they can get a 6th or 7th for him.

Calhoun is miserable...I could set the edge better than he can.

Very true, he hasnt been able to. That said he is has been playing mainly OLB which he never played in college. Some players can adjust and others cant. He has struggled thus far but I do feel if if went to a more pure 4/3 defense and played base DE he could probably turn things around better.

I actually would like the TJ Ward addition. He would add experience and toughness to our backfield. Not likely would that happen.

If the Broncos cut Sloter, the Raiders should sign him and cut Manuel and Cook. They stink, don't belong in the NFL.

Not sure Raiders carry 9 OL. Felciano was the primary back up Center last year. Likely be the same. Plus both Alexander and Felciano both have guard experience.

Would put both Mickens and Holton over KJ Brant. Both Holton and Mickens have good ST play to help carry them over.

Dont see Raiders carrying 10 LBs. Morrow and Adams to PS

    Add:
    Mickens
    Holton
    McDonald

    Subtract:
    Morrow
    Adams
    Silberman

Overall even with your list Id be good. Just some of the changes Id make.

I don't think we carry 3 QBs. I would say Morrow makes the team and they cut Cook.

Definitely not keeping both Manuel and Cook...they're just awful.

Our lack of depth is pretty obvious here, we have some solid starters with trash behind in most cases

At some positions yes...but at most positions, I disagree
