    Astros acquire Justin Verlander

The Tigers are in “active discussions” on the possibility of a Justin Verlander trade in advance of tonight’s deadline for postseason roster eligibility, reports Jon Morosi of MLB.com (Twitter links). Per Morosi, each of Verlander, Shane Greene and Alex Wilson is in play as the Tigers are “making clear” to other clubs that they are embarking on a rebuild.

We could potentially see Upton, Verlander, Greene, and Wilson shipped out today.

Verlander and Greene to Houston would be a solid get for the Astros.

Personally, I don't see the Tigers dealing JV until off season. Astros don't seem to want to make an impact move and they make the most sense.

Tigers and Astros very close to finalizing a deal for Justin Verlander. Verlander's approval is believed to be final hurdle

Deal is now off. Verlander didn't want to waiver his NTC.

I wonder why. The Tigers are clearly rebuilding and will be nowhere near contention in the immediate future. I get its tough to uproot and move to another city but going to the Astros is his best chance to win a WS.

I guess Verlander figures he can find a more attractive destination. His girlfriend is Hollywood so I wouldn't be surprised if he pushed for a trade to the Dodgers or Angels in the offseason.

Daz Cameron, Franlkin Perez, and Jake Rogers

I'm still shocked by this. But Cameron is a nice get back, and that salary is nice to unload I'm sure.

The Astros needed another TORP for the playoffs. This is a good move for the Tigers and for the Astros.

    Right down to the wire.

Didn't think the Tigers would ever move Verlander, but they did.

    Good trade for both teams

Houston might have made themselves favorites in AL with this deal.

As an unbiased fan to both teams.

I'm sad Verlander won't retire a Tiger. The team that drafted him. We just never see what we did decades ago of that. But good for him on getting to compete in the playoffs and use what years he has left for meaningful baseball.

Tigers can jettison their rebuild way faster, and I think Daz Cameron is a fun prospect.

If I'm a Tigers fan, I am exciting about this, but sad to see Verlander pitch elsewhere. But this is great for the Tigers organization.

#Cubs had been Verlander's first choice. He wanted to let that play out as long as possible. He agreed to #Astros deal at final minute. @MLB
