Who in the hell would take him and his contract? One of Moz's worst deals ever, getting out of any part of the deal would be awesome.

Deal still needs to be approved by Leake due to his NTC

    Leake approved the trade.

having the extra 55 million (or however much the mariners agreed to pay) will be nice the next 3 offseasons

    2018 Rotation

    1. Martinez
    2. Reyes
    3. Wacha
    4. Weaver
    5. Wainwright/Flaherty/Hudson/Mayers

This assume Lynn doesn't come back
Wainwright will be in his last year of his deal. I would see about him to the pen, and remove his cutter from his arsenal.

Cardinals to receive Rayder Ascenio, $750k in international slot money.

Cardinals sending Leake and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Stl got lucky getting rid of that contract.

Cardinals are sending about $17M of the remaining $55M to the Mariners per Rosenthal.

That's a pretty healthy portion of the contract.

I'm still happy about the deal, but that's more than I thought they would be sending.

Nice deal for both sides. Mariners get desperately needed pitching while only paying Leake something like 3/36 while the Cards can rely more on their young guys and see what they have.

Don't know anything about the spec.

Yeah, it's 3/36, could be 4/49 with the mutual option.

Cardinals paid him $44M for less than 2 years of pitching at middle of the road/below average rates.

    Ugh, stop signing free agents!

Cecil and Fowler are completely redundant on the roster too, and completely unnecessary. I hate when the team spends money in free agency.
