    I found this

Joe Mauer literally went through a growth spurt after winning his first batting title in 2006, climbing from 6-4 to 6-5 at age 23.

That just means he was destined to not remain a catcher at his height.

Few remember he was a top recruit in football, too, and had committed to play QB at Florida State when the Twins drafted him. #1 QB in a year future Heisman winner Matt Leinert was #7

Lou Whitaker, huh? I never thought of him as a HOFer growing up seeing him play. Is it strictly WAR why you think so?

That '84 team was pretty amazing though.

I posted a thread on here years ago saying Mauer was overrated and wasn't as good as everyone thought. I was ridiculed and I think the thread was deleted I was never able to find it. This was probably back in 2009-2011 time period.

Let's ignore WAR and look at how Whitaker stacks up compared to other 2B all time

    (min 5000 PA)
    10th all time in HR
    8th all time in PA
26th in wRC+ (tied with Alomar)
    17th defensively

I think he is a fantastic comp to Robbie Alomar.

He is def a fringe guy, but I would vote for him.
