    Former Cubs Watch

Some other forums have a similar thread to this following former players and prospects after they join new teams. We have traded a lot of players over the past couple years and some were fan favorites other we're just organizational types. This thread is meant to keep tabs on them...

Blake Parker is having a great year, he has pitched over 45 IP with ERA of 2.16 and a whip of .904. As well as striking out 60 with 11 walks.

He hasn't given up a run in a home game since he was a Cub. In 2014.

Zack Godley had 2 rough starts but bounced back impressively in his last one. He didn't make his first start until the last week of April but since then, he's compiled more war than any Cubs SP aside from Q, which doesn't really count for us anyway.

Who the hell saw this coming

He was a bullpen arm for the 1-2 years he was a Cub. One of the fangraphs writers mentioned that his curveball is looking live an above average to a plus pitch. As well as saying he might be a number 2 pitcher.

Soler is never going to be healthy enough for long stretches at a time to truly be an impact player IMO. Plus his defense is brutal.

I think it's more likely that Soler just sucks. In 4 seasons he's accrued 0.5 WAR in total. He's had plenty of opportunities and IMO is nothing more than a middling DH long-term.

The fact that the Cubs got Wade Davis for him, even for just 1 season, is a big win in terms of value. Hell, Davis has been worth 1.3 wins this season alone.

Soler is definitely limited simply because of his defense. And his contact rate makes it unlikely that he could even be anything that special offensively so he's basically a DH/COF who can't hit?

Also jeez what a depressing self-destructive thread this is.

I know a few people were up in arms earlier in the year over the Starlin Castro trade but it looks like after a hot start he is fizzling out again. His wRC+ by month is...

    Apr - 155
    May - 98
    Jun - 118
    Jul - 40

His dWAR is also worst among qualified 2B this year.
