    2017 Pre-season thread

Figured we could post about camp and preseason games here.

What I'm reading is Payton wanting Ram to try for LT and even Barnes before, Peat. Peat was good on the left side last year, but sucked on the right side. Hopefully there is some good LT play regardless of who it is. Hate that Armstead is injury prone.

Anthony is getting what is likely his last chance, and it's at Will. He wasn't ready to lead at Mike and wasn't good at Sam. Hope he makes it as Ellerbe will be released and Anzalone is a rookie. Saints have plenty of bodies for Sam and Mike.

Reviews on Anzalone are that he has good vision for Will. Hope he stays healthy.

Who will win the battle for 4th WR? Liking what I read about Fuller. Coleman is fine for what he is, but unless he makes a big leap, he's a much less productive version of Thomas with poor hands.

I'm interested to see how well we look in preseason at QB Grayson has had more time and Chase can show that he can lead this team if needed.

If Fuller is legit as I think he is he should dominate in preseason and make this team. Coleman is going to be tough to beat for any spot. That dude might start at WR if he keeps progressing. I don't know if Coleman realizes how much he has going for him

Per ESPN Saints reporter Mike Triplett, Mark Ingram has been "very active in the passing game all camp."

On Tuesday, Triplett noted that Ingram looked like Pierre Thomas on a screen pass. The Saints may view Ingram as their best fit for the old Thomas role with Adrian Peterson as the Deuce McAllister and Alvin Kamara perhaps eventually developing into a bigger Darren Sproles. Quietly, Ingram has finished top 15 amongst NFL running backs in receptions in back-to-back seasons.

Ingram has been underrated by many. He's become a better version of PT once he worked on pass-catching. Health is the only concern with him.

    2017 Pre-season thread

I think Ingram understands the Saints brought in a great but old RB and moved up in the draft to get a flashy RB. He has this year on his contract with a potential out after this year I think. For the price he's a really nice RB but I'm sure he's keeping tabs with other RB's and their salary. This may be a special season for him and he's working on his game more to be an all around RB.

Yea Ingram has developed into a solid all purpose RB. I'm glad Saints Nation criticism motivated him to elevate his game.

Had he been drafted in the 4th round, he wouldn't have faced such criticism. He also faced criticism when Payton tried to use him as a short down specialist.

I will be the first to admit that I have been critical of Ingram. Honestly AD and Kamara are going to take touches away from Ingram and I am ok with that because it will keep him fresh into late in the season and possibly the play offs.

I have read some good stuff on Coleman. Is he going to turn it around this year and step up or is this preseason super optimistic journalism I am reading?

How is the defense looking? Anyone standing out?

How is Lattimore and Ramrod doing?

Lattimore tweaked his knee, so he's been out for a few days.

DBs have been okay in drills. Read where Williams picked off Brees in the red zone.

Not much has been said on the O-line. I think the game against Cleveland will show us something. Right now, they've been signing guys to get enough bodies out there for the line.

Read that Tommylee Lewis is starting to heat up again. He, Coleman, and Fuller are fighting for 1-2 spots.

I'm eager to see AP in preseason. I want to see how he performs for the handful of carries he gets. I'm fine with Ingram getting less because it should keep him healthy and may keep him playing into his 30s.

I hope he plays, and I think he needs the reps with a new scheme and team.

Agreed but it's telling that I'd worry about injury

AP out for Thursday. Lattimore and Ram are likely out, too.
