Baffles me every year how little people realize Lundqvist does. There's probably 2-3 other teams that can afford to run Staal and Girardi out for big minutes and still be successful. All of those teams have goalies I would put at the top of this list. I'd concede Hank out of the top spot where I've had him for a year and a half and pretty much top 3 for years. He's been wildly consistent especially with some very bad defenses in front of him.

    1. Price
    2. Rinne
    3. Lundqvist
    4. Bobrovsky
    5. Holtby
    6. Schneider
    7. Dubnyk
    8. Gibson
    9. Murray
    10. Rask

I may have even missed someone I think deserves it more to be on that list. I'm confident in 1-6 though. No research done.

I'm surprised Craig Anderson was not mentioned in the thread, the Sens were one game away from beating the Champions.

Coming up with 10 was difficult. I case can be made for the 3 guys I included as honorable mentions and I really should have included Craig Anderson with them. I'm baffled that I'm the only one that included Jonathan Quick.

Why all the love for BOB? The guy was pure trash 3 of the last 4 years, wins a Vezina with a good team in front of him and suddenly he's a top 3 goal in peoples eyes.

Well saying pure trash is a little far fetched. And he has won 2 vezinas.

The bigger mystery for me is the lack of love for Rinne.

Maybe 3 of 4 isn't accurate because his 13/14 numbers were average....2 of the last 3 is though

    2013/2014 - 2.38 GAA / .923 SV%
    2014/2015 - 2.69 GAA / .918 SV%
    2015/2016 - 2.75 GAA / .908 SV%
    2016/2017 - 2.06 GAA / .931 SV%

So he went from Vezina to average to below average to terrible and back to Vezina. Sorry, but that doesn't scream top 3 goalie to me. He has no consistency season to season and the guys success is very much predicated on the team in front of him.

I'd agree with this. Especially the Rinne part. I know when I'm watching him he usually has some pretty stalwart games. Maybe I'm missing his inconsistencies because I don't watch him a ton and like I said I didn't look into stats etc. but he's been pretty great especially last year.

Rinne, Hank and Price have been easily the 3 best goalies in the league for quite a while if you consider their levels of consistency. Rinne just ran his team to the Finals and was huge at a lot of points before the Finals started. Gotta be the top dog in my eyes.

And now that I look back I had Price #1 lol. As I said though it's kind of 1a 1b 1c for me.

I agree to an extent. But when he's hot, he's really hot and can do it for an extended period.

I do not think he is a top 3. Just saying why I think people are saying he is. It also says top goalies TODAY. So perhaps people are looking at this past season rather closely as opposed to a full body of work.
