Don't care how good TC is - he's probably not the manager next year. Hard to imagine the team not heading in a different time direction in many ways.
So who is a good replacement? I'd say Geren and Lopez are likely candidates.

I still think David Wright would be a solid choice. Has the respect of all, and you have Scott as bench coach as his advisor. Plus, the Wilpons are paying him. Okay, so you give a few extra bones to manage. DW should be seriously considered.

Stars rarely make good managers. But if it was something he really wanted to do, in sure he'd be great. Thing is, he already made his money. Guys like Terry Collins, when they were players, did not. His big payday was managing.
So unless he's really had his heart set on managing I don't think he'd be a great candidate
