What are your expectations for the 2017/2018 season?

    I have to be honest...
I think we are going to be the surprise team in the West...
All I needed to see was:

    1. Lonzo Ball as advertised...
He will have his Rookie struggles, primarily shooting and defense fighting through picks etc.
But as long as he maintains his elite leadership on the floor, that's all this team needs right now...

    2. Shooting Guard...
I was thinking Clarkson would fill this role...But the KCP signing just checked that box to the max...2 way player...That can hit the open shot and get out and run...Done...Perfect backcourt...

    3.Brandon Ingram...
I wanted to see some progress and maturity...and although it was just 1 game...wow...He has grown physically and mentally...His natural skillset is there...

With Randle reshpaing his body and continued work on his shooting...
Brooks outside threat that opens up the offense for Randle to bang down low...
and when you factor in our bench...
Clarkson, Hart, Kuzma, Zubac, Bryant etc...

I look at what Boston has done in the East...they have talent, not elite but they also have good coaching...
Luke should be able to put together something similar with what he has...His system is tailor made for the talent on this team...

I will be disappointed if we don't register at least 42 wins...
This is not a below .500 team...Not even in the West...No way...

and compete for a playoff spot...
This is what I expect if we are going to claim to be a star player away from a chip next summer...

The West has all the talent. It may take time for those teams to build chemistry. With that ball boy running the show in LA, chemistry shouldn't be an issue. I expect the Lakers to get off to a fast start, then struggle in the 2nd half. I say around 42 wins.

    Championship!

(Maybe it won't be the Lakers this year, but I'm pretty sure someone will win the title.)
Butthurt Sssmush, because Russell got traded:

"Unless Ball is a superstar out of the box and Ingram legitamately happens...
seriously we might lose 80 games I am not even joking...."

Superstar Brooklyn Nets stat-whore D'Angelo Russell:

"I wanted to play defense in L.A.," Russell said, "but I felt
like I had to score every chance I got for us to be relevant."

32-38 wins based on health and the current roster...

I doubt this team stays healthy for a full year since the better players will have to play huge minutes

    Also...
The Clippers and Jazz are probably going to take a step back...with the losses of CP3 and Haywood...
I have no idea about the Grizzlies or Blazers...But we can't be that far off from Memphis and Portland...
Denver lost Galanari...There's a spot to be had in the lower seeds...

    The west will be
    1) Warriors
    2-4) Houston, SA, OKC
    5) Minnesota
6-8) Up for grabs between Denver, Portland, Clippers, Utah, Lakers, Memphis, New Orleans (IMHO probably in that order)

Okay -- this one wins my vote for most coherent Rocco post ever.

Tight, clear, incisive, and best of all he didn't start a new thread to post it.

    Lool

Rocco every single year since 4 years you see us as the surprise team in the west, we all saw how it ended...

But this year finally you may be right.

This team is way more balanced and luke has the players he wanted, we have a coherent FO too.

But still we're young and it might hit us in the end.

I would be happy with a 30+ wins season and if they're better than this I'm all for it.

Come on guys... 42? A 16 win improvement? Wtf are you smoking.

A realistic expectation is somewhere around 32-35.

As always -- injuries trump everything.

I'd be thrilled with 40 wins.

I think this team will be closer to 34, but we may see the preponderance of those in the dolrums of the season -- after we get our lineups and rotations set, and before the other teams start dialing in for the playoffs.

Expect an ugly November and maybe December, and a bunch of young kids running out of gas by April.

Also, I think we're all gonna be very happy to have players like Caruso (two-way contract), LNJ and Hart around, just to spare the starters minutes.

Best of all possible worlds: Deng is back and comes to play from day one, playing solid minutes and giving us a chance to move him at the trade deadline.

Stay on this +9 yoy that we had last year.

    35 wins

I don't think that's a bad number and it's a solid improvement from last year. I don't think Lonzo Ball, Ingram, Randle, KCP, & Brook Lopez is enough to make it to the playoffs in the west.

If by some crazy chance we make it to the playoffs, Luke Walton should be COY and Lonzo Ball should be MVP, because on paper this is not a playoff team in the western conference.

Thats my guess too. 8-10 game improvement.
Some nights we will look really good, other nights we'll look terrible.

Id be thrilled w 40+ wins and somehow sneaking into the 8th seed but its highly unlikely.

Only way is if randle and ingram take huge steps and ball is ROY type of play and even then still... gonna be really tough

    ~30-33 wins

Lack of depth as people have mentioned, and still need to see an indication that this team will play any sort of defense.
