    Scouting Report:
Giants: Cueto, who allowed six runs to close out the first half, opens the second half. He owns an 8-4 record with a 2.93 ERA in 13 career starts against San Diego.

Padres: The veteran left-hander closed his first half with six strong frames in Philadelphia (and would’ve gone longer if not for a rain delay). Among qualified starters, his 57-percent ground-ball rate is tops in the National League.

    Game 2: Saturday, July 15th @ 5:40 PM

    VS.
    Madison Bumgarner......Jhoulys Chacin

    Code:

                                1.07 WHIP 1.29
                                27.0 IP 102.0
                                28 K's 88
                                4 BB's 35
    Scouting Report:
Giants: In his first appearance since injuries sustained in an April 20 dirt-bike accident sidelined him, Bumgarner will resume his season in a spot where he has had mixed success. He’s 4-6 with a 3.97 ERA lifetime at Petco Park.

Padres:After a shaky start to his Padres tenure, Chacin has found a groove of late. Since the start of June, he’s posted a 2.44 ERA in seven starts, while lowering his ERA by a run and a half. He also has a 1.68 ERA at home this season.

    Game 3: Sunday, July 16th @ 1:40 PM

    VS.
    Jeff Samardzija..........Trevor Cahill

    Code:
                                Samardzija Cahill
                                18 Starts 9
                                4 Wins 3
                                10 Losses 3
                                4.58 ERA 3.38
                                1.15 WHIP 1.22
                                118.0 IP 50.2
                                127 K's 63
                                14 BB's 19

    Scouting Report:
Giants: Pretty soon, talk of setting all-time franchise records likely will accompany each of Samardzija’s starts. His per-nine-inning ratios of 9.07 strikeouts to walks and 1.1 walks lead the National League.

Padres: Cahill allowed three homers in Philadelphia on Sunday, as many as he had allowed in his first eight starts combined this year. The veteran right-hander appears to have put his shoulder troubles behind him.

Should have benched him until 2019 just to be safe.

Exactly...what good is it to use him when the season and probably next are wasted anyway. Just let him rest and get his new contract with a team that actually expects play for pay!

Our pitchers can't pitch well in July when we need them to, can't they?
