    Quintana to the Cubs

For OF Eloy Jimenez, RHP Dylan Cease, 1B Matt Rose, and INF Bryant Flete

Broken by Ken Rosenthal. Somebody provide a link for I can't seem to do that on my phone.

Seems like the Sox undersold a little bit, certainly thought they'd get a higher prospect back.

    Cubs acquire Jose Quintana

White Sox are building one hell of a farm system. They receive Eloy Jimenez, Dylan Cease, Matt Rose, and Bryant Flete in return.

Pretty enormous deal. My brain is having trouble comprehending that the Sox actually were willing to make a reasonable deal that betters the Cubs.

I'm just surprised that Happ or Schwarber weren't involved. I thought one of them was definitely going to be moved.

Sox have the best system at this point, no?

Jimenez and Cease are pretty good prospects.

The White Sox could have waited but its hard to imagine they were going to get a significantly better deal somewhere else.

I think the deal is a win for both teams.

I mean they got a top 5 prospect, not sure how much higher you can reasonably shoot considering they already have the #1.

I think it's a rather fair trade I'm just stunned the Sox were willing to settle on "just" a fair trade with the Cubs.

Seems like a great deal for the Cubs unless I'm missing something.

Q has been pitching well lately, gotta feel like this kind of deal would be around anytime, why not let him continue to pitch until close to the deadline to continue building back his value?

Sox must have been overwhelmed with the return to pull the trigger this early.

Probably for the same reason the Cubs traded Samardzija in early July 2 years ago. When someone dangles the top 5 prospect carrot in front of you, you eat the carrot. The carrot might not be there come deadline time.

I mean, Gleyber Torres was traded for a rental reliever...i thought they would've given up a LOT more for somebody way more valuable than Chapman. Or maybe I'm comparing apples and oranges

Probably compare it more to the Sale trade.

Jimenez is a similar prospect to Moncada in terms of prospect rankings. Cease isn't Kopech but he was another top 100 spec. Ultimately, the White Sox did well in terms of return.
