Yup. Only allowing 5.1 H/9 and has a 10.9 KK/9. His walks are a little high (4.2 BB/9), but nothing crazy.

According to major league sources, the Red Sox have some keen interest in Pat Neshek. That shouldn't come as a surprise.

Of the two areas that this team might be looking for help at heading into the non-waiver trade deadline, late-inning reliever would almost certainly fit one of the categories. That's where Neshek comes in.

The National League All-Star is 36 years old and is having one of his best seasons, hitting the All-Star break with a 1.27 ERA in 37 outings for the Phillies. Neshek has struck out 36 and walked just five, primarily pitching in the seventh and eighth innings.

"I’ve been dealing with it since the first day I got traded to Philly," Neshek told Philly.com during Monday's media availability in Miami. "It’s not like it wasn’t expected. It would be nice for me one year to just stay somewhere three years. I’d go nuts."

While the potential move would offer similarities to Dave Dombrowski's trade of Brad Ziegler a year ago -- with one common thread being both are side-winders -- this isn't exactly an apples to apples situation.

Neshek is less of a specialist than Ziegler was viewed as by the Red Sox, getting both left-handed (.188 batting average against) and right-handed (.234) batters out at a very similar rate. And despite the similar arm angles, the Philadelphia reliever isn't nearly as much of a ground ball pitcher as Ziegler represents, actually serving more as a fly ball/strikeout guy.

The righty, who is in the final year of a three-year, $18.5 million deal, will be one of the most coveted relievers on the market in the next few weeks, making the chances of getting Neshek at the bargain basement price they fell into with Ziegler highly unlikely. But if the price is right, the reliever would seemingly be a very good fit for these Red Sox.

4:55 Do not like Prado rumors to the Redsox. Unless if Miami eats some of his salary, which they aren't looking to do
    Jason Martinez
4:56 I think Lowrie, Solarte or Nuñez are more likely
    John Farrell
5:44 Who is my 3rd baseman on August 1st?
    Jason Martinez
5:45 Red Sox would love Solarte. I'll say Eduardo Nuñez, though, since Dombrowski might not be all that interested in trading with Preller this year.

I wonder if the Red Sox could pull off a deal with SFG for Nunez and eat a ton of contract on Panda plus something else of actual value. Giants don't have a 3B on the horizon for a few years. Sigh, a guy can dream, right?

Second part of that is done, but we are not going to see the first part under those conditions.

Take it with a grain of salt, but rumors that Frazier might be headed to Boston soon.

    2017 Trade Deadline

I love when you search on twitter and the idiots who just take a stab at a trade like that and go for Frazier to the Red Sox is done for two minor leaguers, will announce in the morning.

The other great thing about Twitter are dumb people. One of my buddies tweeted that he's heard a deal was close and I tweeted yes for Benitendi, Devers and Groome. I had at least 5 Red Sox fans tweet at me telling me how dumb I am and that would never happen. That's why I love this site. For the most part people can tell sarcasm on something like that.

Now a few guys I trust and know have said there's a lot smoke on a possible deal, nothing quite finished yet.

I'd like to roll with what we have, Devers comes up in September and pulls a 2013 Xander for us.

Same. We better trade relatively unknown prospects if this happens. Dombrowski needs to chill with killing the farm.

Frazier's having a mediocre year (actually he's pretty much had a mediocre career -- 111 OPS+), and he's a free agent at the end of the season.

    I wouldn't trade for him.

Well its seems like it will happen. There is just too much smoke. Add in the fact that Todd's wife just RT'd a Fox Sports video with Ken Rosenthal talking about the Frazier to Boston rumors.

He was terrible and picked it up a bit. I don't love the guy but he's the only one that makes sense IMO. Retiring money, relatively cheap on prospects, etc. Prado is too expensive and has an extra year of contract, Moustakas isn't leaving a team within a few games of the WC.

LOL, White Sox fans think we will trade Groome if they add Robertson. The highest we would trade is Chavis. Groome ain't going anywhere. Don't be greedy White Sox fans.
