Soundgarden's Chris Cornell suddenly passes away at 52

Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell has died at the age of 52, his representative said.

In a statement provided to BuzzFeed News, Brian Bumbery said Cornell died in Detroit, Michigan, on Wednesday night, and that it was "sudden and unexpected."

"Chris Cornell passed away late last night in Detroit, MI. His wife Vicky and family were shocked to learn of his sudden and unexpected passing, and they will be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause," Bumbery said.

"They would like to thank his fans for their continuous love and loyalty and ask that their privacy be respected at this time."
Cornell had posted about the Soundgarden concert in Detroit on Twitter just eight hours before his death was announced.

I'm so sad. All my favorite 90s voices are gone.

They are reporting they had to bust his dressing room door open and they found him with a cord around his neck.

    Damn, Chris.

    You'll never be

I was shocked and sad to hear the news when I woke up this morning. I, too, loved Chris. That it was a suicide makes this even more tragic.

Guys, make yourself available to your family and friends and tell them you love them. You truly never know how someone is feeling or what personal battle they're fighting.

I'm sad for Chris' family and bandmates.

this sucks. That era of music came when I was a teenager, always had a spot for it.

    Great songwriter/singer.

By all accounts, everyone close to him is stunned. Shows you how powerful depression can be. And how well someone can hide it.

If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

Was only a matter of time before there was an idiotic post. Surprised it took this long.
