Slater is out 2-3 months with a torn adductor muscle in his right hip.

Rookie outfielder Austin Slater, hurt Friday night, will be out two to three months after tearing the adductor muscle in his right hip, NBC Sports Bay Area has learned. The Giants expected to have more information Sunday morning, but an MRI on Saturday showed the tear, which is significant enough that it likely will cost Slater the rest of a promising rookie season.

Morse has gone home to Florida to be with his family while he recuperates. I don't get the sense we're going to see him again this year.

I know Shark ran into him but this is on Strickland; this just magnifies how stupid Strickland was.

While I cannot argue that what Strickland did was not "stupid", he had no control over Morse, Shark or any other participant running into each other. That was just ill timed fate.
Baseball has been very very good to me!

Posey stops Harper from getting to the mound and Morse and Shark don't have to run out like madmen to protect Strickland. Strickland was very much in the wrong, but he doesn't hold all the blame here.

Good news on Cueto. No major ligament damage. He has a mild flexor strain.

One day after Cueto cut short his rehab start at Single-A San Jose because of forearm discomfort, the team said an MRI exam ruled out any major ligament damage in his elbow. Cueto was diagnosed with what the Giants termed as a mild strain of the flexor muscle in his forearm, and will be reevaluated after resting a week.

The club has every expectation that Cueto will pitch again this season, said Giants head athletic trainer Dave Groeschner.

“He might need a few extra days (beyond a week), but that’s what we’ll find out,” Groeschner said. “We’ll figure out where he is and we’ll put together a throwing program for him.”

If that program includes a few side sessions and another minor league rehab start, then Cueto’s best-case scenario might mean missing most if not all of August.

Cueto’s strain is milder than the one he had in 2015 that caused him to miss a start with the Kansas City Royals, Groeschner said. It’s much less severe than the flexor strain that Matt Cain sustained at the end of spring in 2015, when he didn’t debut until July.
