Couple of really painful losses to start the year against Nats and Mets.

At least Cesar Hernandez is the best player on the team now...

I love the added pop Cesar has shown (although early). If he can go from a 6 HR guy to a 10-15 HR guy that will be a nice addition.

Now, do you trade Cesar or do you keep him as part of the rebuild (He has 3 more years of control, I believe but he is 27)?

I think if we get a decent bite on him, you have to trade him.

At some point you have to keep some of these guys and stop trading them away. I'd be fine with it if they were able to get a major haul but I still feel in a few years this team can compete for a playoff spot and Cesar is young/good enough to help them with that.

In other news, Buchholtz is having surgery on his partial tear of his flexor pronator mass. Recovery time is 3-5 months so it is possible he returns but at that time they may want to look at the young pitchers on the team.

It's a case by case basis, but there's a functional limit to how much depth can be put in a system without wasting value. The club is already struggling to keep the 40-man stable. They'll have to discard a ton of players to cover the next crop of Rule 5 eligibles. I think if Hernandez is getting traded, it's more likely to be part of a package for a superstar. But it's hard to imagine a scenario where that makes sense without Hernandez on the roster.

OMFG Odubel is getting walked to get to Franco, The line up needs a shake up, put Joseph and Franco down in the order.

I agree that they should be moved down but this team doesn't have the luxury of players to do that. Maybe Saunders in the cleanup spot but its not like he's hitting at a high level right now either. Plus, I don't believe they want Lefty/Lefty at 3-4 in the lineup.

I mean give Franco a few days, put Blanco there, Stassi coul give Joseph a few starts.

I would go something like this

    Cesar
    Blanco
    Herrera
    Aalther
    Saunders
    Stassi
    Rupp
    Galvis
    Pitcher

Should give them some time or maybe they just need ABs to sort it out.

Every time I say someone needs to be benched, this happens.
