Also per MLBTR, the Padres have outrighted INF Chase d'Arnaud to the minors and the Royals outright RP Seth Maness

Unless he turns out to be Rey Ordonez in the field. Highly unlikely though.

In today's MLB, even with Rey Ordonez's defense, you wouldn't play SS everyday.

Jose Iglesias is pretty much the closest current comp imo. Great glove, weak bat.

Anonymous report from the Yankees system states that there is a lack of desire from Greg Bird to get back on the field

Michael Pineda has a partial tear of his UCL. He is seeking a second opinion but the recommendation is to have Tommy John surgery.

Am glad baseball is back today because sports media talks some of the dumbest **** during the All Star hiatus like if MLB contracts will ever include a buyout provision. I guess this comes after Sandoval was DFA'd by the Red Sox today.

Like what incentive would MLB players find in letting teams keep millions of dollars from them after being released?

Buyout provision would never happen but what's interesting is that the Giants offered Sandoval more to stay so they should thank their lucky stars he didn't accept

Orioles manager Buck Showalter feels that demoting struggling SP Kevin Gausman to the minors could be an option. After he got blown up by the Cubs, I feel this could help for a start or two, but in reality, anyone replacing Gausman would be just as bad, and maybe worse, at this point.

Jon Heyman reporting that Chris Carter is likely to sign with either the A's or the Rangers. I can't see the need with the Rangers though, as Gallo and Napoli have similar skillsets, and while Napoli has struggled, his numbers are still better than Carter.

Rays designate another reliever for assignment, this time it is Jumbo Diaz, they will definitely be on the lookout for reliever help at the deadline.
