I'm sure there is. It's a reason for every cut, trade and none extension. its low risk with a possible high reward. If he's not what you want, you cut him, sacrifice the 3.5 or whatever he's owed and move on. But the upside of the bounce back could be huge in on the field improvement or/and another tradable asset. Adding his 3.5 and Phillips 1 mil, would slide right into the money S-Rod would be making ( I'm assuming insurance will be picking up the bulk of his salary). I don't see the downside honestly. If Ruiz is ready, we could cut or trade him and move on.

Outside of 3B the Braves have improved at least moderately at every other position of need. Get Bret, sign Luis Robert and draft Green he falls to us. The Farm would be amazing, the on the field play will be improved and we would once again become a very desirable place for free agents. Long Live The Braves!

I'm not interested in Lawrie either. I would rather play Rio Ruiz.

Newcomb threw 2 scoreless innings. Struck out 4 of 7 batters.

The Braves have made Angel Pagan an offer, per Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle (via Twitter), but it was of the minor-league variety. Understandably, Pagan is looking for a MLB roster spot, according to the report. While thatís not surprising, given his solid work last year and long history as a semi-regular player, it remains to be seen whether such an opportunity will arise.

Interesting. Pagan would be a really solid backup option. And could start immediately if Kemp/Marky were traded. Also would add some late inning defensive help. I really like the idea, especially if he took a minor league deal.

Newcomb pitched well, hope those k's and 0 walks are here to stay.

    I'd love Pegan as the 4th OF'er!

That is the Newcomb that is so tantalizing.

Read Blair was a little shaky, gave up a lead off home run and a few hits but was able to work around damage. Solid start.

Pagan is interesting, especially without Mallex being our 4th outfielder now. Definitely like him over someone like Bonifacio. Still wouldn't mind them bringing in Francoeur.

I didn't see the game, but I did see Garcia came out early with an injury. If it's serious, dose that change some of your minds about Brett?
