Why are the T-Wolves so bad?

Thought this would be their breakout year? Why has it backfired? Were we just expecting their breakout year a bit too early?

We overrated their talent and their coach isn't maximizing it, rather developing a new identity

The two biggest issues is that it has taken a while for our team to learn the new defense (said during game today that since Dec 13th we are 10th in defensive efficiency since then). At the end of games we have been going to wiggins with the ball creating which no one really seems to get leading to like a 2-12 record when the game ends within 7 points either way.

We have finally picked up the defense and have been using Rubio more to facilitate recently and since that dec 13 game are 7-8 overall so hopefully we are going to keep playing at this level/improving now that we have the rotations/assignments down better and maybe don't force wiggins iso as much.

I dont know the stats at all, but I would venture to say they are a top 7 first half team in the entire NBA. They lack focus do to their age. They rarely put together 4 quarters of disciplined basketball. When they do, they win. But you can see that its there, and it will all come together relatively soon aka soon enough aka by the time Lebron and Durant are physically unable to rule the league like they are now.

Wiggins closed tonight. Maybe the best player on the floor today. But probably Harden.

Anyone else get jealous hearing stuff like this? Like Thibs is so ****ing smart that just learning his defense has taken 3 months. That team is still so dangerous in the next few years.

OKC sucked in 08-09 and had 3 MVP caliber players. Wolves are babies in NBA years.

Ahh yes, the glory days of Westbrook, KD and Jeff Green?

Harden won 50 games his rookie year. Those pups pushed the Lakers in R1.

Didn't KD lead the league in scoring that year?

They are bad because people only look at offense when it comes to evaluating teams. And people looked at Thibs and just assumed because he was coach they would improve defensively and thats just not how it works. Towns is an incredible talent and they have a great future, but their talent is mostly offense at this point. They will get better defensively as they age and get more experience, but defense is why they stink. They will be great next year or in 2 years though with more time.

Yup it was his breakout season and the first of many scoring titles to come. Crazy how high their stock was back then, they made alot of mistakes along the way, even within their success. They should have never forced Jeff Green into a starting role, they should have never prioritized RWB over Harden even that early but the pecking order was already established.
