This is just another random thought. Just saw this article that they way Revis contract was structured with the Jets that he is set to make 6 million, but if he was to sign with another team as a 10 year vet minimum it would be for 1 million so the new team is on the hook for his 1 million in salary and the Jets for another 5 million. Would you kick the tires and consider bringing in Revis at this point for 1 million? I would definitely bring him in.
If Butler isn't brought in, I'm okay with kicking the tires on Revis, but he looked bad last season. He also wants to go to the Steelers.
Had friends saying they wish the Saints would trade up for Fournette. I think that's too much plus they need to draft defenders. I think Mixon is worth trading back up into the 2nd for.
I am not sure what is going to happen with Butler but I just don't see it as a realistic signing at the moment. I would totally welcome him on the Saints just doesn't seem like it will happen.
I don't think the Saints would trade up for Fournette just because of the glaring holes on defense. He would be someone that the team could be built around who is a native and could do much off the field if his play on the field is what is projected. Jersey sales, commercials, branding would be ridiculous if the Saints had a native player that's a star on the team.
If the Saints do not get Butler in some sort of scenario. Every mock draft basically has the Saints going pass rusher then CB in the first round. The 2nd would be wide open for a LB or if possible Mixon.
Belicheck taking a 2nd for Butler would be a dream scenario for the Saints. No way it happens because they put that 1st rounder attached to his restricted status. A duo of Breaux and Butler with Williams and Swann as a backup would be ok. I would still like to draft a DB. Bell and Vacarro are the only real Safeties on the roster so this makes me want them to take Obi even more.
Doesn't look like Revis is a good fit for the Steelers as they are going with youth. The Saints on the other hand can use all the help they can on defense. I still think this makes sense even though its not 2011 Revis its still a decent fit. He would get playing time here for sure to help build up his value like Fairley did last year and get one last decent payday. Then again I am not a NFL GM I have no clue what I am doing lol
