2017 NFL Draft Discussion & Mocks Thread

With this season officially in the toilet, it's never to early to start looking ahead at the 2017 NFL Draft. Using the www.draftsite.com web site as my guide, here is my first official 2017 Mock Draft:

Round 1 (MIN #17) - Traded to PHI
Round 2 (MIN #49) - C/G Pat Elflein (Ohio St.)
Round 3 (MIN #81) - OT Chad Wheeler (USC)
Round 3 (MIA #84) - RB Nick Chubb (Georgia)
Round 4 (MIN #113) - OT Dan Skipper (Arkansas)
Round 4 (MIA #116) - OG Kyle Kalis (Michigan)
    Round 5 (MIN #145) - DT Da'Shawn Hand (Alabama)
Round 6 (MIN #176) - CB Demetrius Cox (Michigan St.)
Round 7 (MIN #207) - OT David Sharp (Florida)

Forrest Lamp from Western Kentucky is my guy right now. Pat Elflein is my second choice. I love both but Lamp has the ability to play LT

I'll have to read up on Lamp....don't know much about the guy. Assuming AP is no longer on the team, would you target a RB in the draft? Foreman from Texas might also be there in the 2nd round but I don't see any scenario where we don't take the best OL available with our first pick in the draft.

Yea look him up. Plays for Western Kentucky. Hasn't given up a sack in 25 games and only gave up 1 hurry on 40 pass plays against Alabama. Read he might move to guard but he sounds good enough to stay at tackle.

If AP is gone then yea I'd look to the draft. The draft is loaded with prospects so I'd wait on one. I would love to get James Connor from Pitt in the middle rounds. Perfect compliment with McKinnon. That kid has a great stiff arm and is very tough to tackle. Personality is a plus too.

I would not be surprised if we take a QB in the middle rounds either.

Patrick Towles from Kentucky and Gunner Kiel from Cincinnati might be worth a look in the late rounds as developmental QB's. Towles has great size at 6'5" and 240#'s.

The projections I have seen for him (All as a OG) have him going in the late second to early third round. If that stays the case (There is still a ton of time for him to move up or down) we should be able to get him if the scouts believe he's worth it.

I've seen the same thing about his as a guard but I feel like if he tests well he could stay at LT. I read his kick step is one of the best. He's a guy I could see rising with some off season hype but he's at the top of my list right now.

    Used a mix of Walter/Draftek/Draftsite

    Offseason:
    Release Adrian Peterson
Trade Shariff Floyd for a mid round pick
    Re-sign Matt Kalil
    Sign Ronald Leary

Round 1 (MIN #17) - Traded to PHI
Round 2 (MIN #49) - Forrest Lamp, OT, Western Kentucky (early thread favorite so we'll roll with it)
    Round 3 (MIN #81) - D'Onta Foreman RB Texas
    Round 3 (MIA #84) - Julie'n Davenport OT Bucknell
    Round 4 (MIN #113) - Eddie Jackson, S, Alabama
Round 4 (MIA #116) - Jaleel Johnson DT Iowa
Round 5 (MIN #145) - Tyler Orlosky OC WV
Round 6 (MIN #176) - Matt Milano OLB Boston College
Round 7 (MIN #207) - Patrick Towles QB Kentucky

I like the bold except for Kalil. I think the fact Clemmings has been so unbearable to watch has made us think having Kalil is better but he's nothing more than mediocre. I think if we can find a way to move on from him we should go for it. Also, I assume you meant to do this but if we sign Leary then odds are we are cutting Fusco, which I am totally on board with.

While I agree..... I think Kalil will be a primary target in FA. Hopefully on a fair deal given the cash he made this year not playing football. There simply isn't a pool of FA LT's this year and I don't see them risking starting a rookie unless somehow they get their hands on Cam Robinson. I think they bring him back knowing they will get a serviceable starter who will want to play in Minny and you draft competition.

Fusco.... Yes no maybe... He has played SO bad but I could see him stashed as depth.
I also meant to add resigning Thielen and Captain Munnerlyn as well.
