Alcantara, 23, was 3-7 with a 4.30 ERA at Double-A Arkansas last season in 29 appearances (20 starts).
Maybin, who played center field for the Tigers, is expected to play left field for the Angels, with Mike Trout remaining in center, according to Fox Sports.
Maybin, 29, hit .315 with four home runs and 43 RBIs in 391 plate appearances for the Tigers last season.
On Thursday, the Tigers exercised closer Francisco Rodriguez's $6 million option for 2017.
Rodriguez, 34, saved 44 games last season for the Tigers.
"We liked the job K-Rod did last season, and the numbers show he was a reliable closer for us," said Al Aliva, executive vice president of baseball operations and general manager of the Tigers. "He stabilizes the back end of our bullpen and provides veteran leadership to our younger bullpen arms.
"We will weigh our options as far as center field is concerned for next season. There will be a wide-open competition starting in the spring, and we'll see how it plays out."
