Details have just been released, but the deal looks like this:The Rangers have agreed to a deal with the Brewers to land star catcher Jonathan Lucroy, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). Thereís a reliever going in the deal, too, with top prospects Lewis Brinson and Luis Ortiz headed to Milwaukee, per MLB.comís T.R. Sullivan
Rangers get Lucroy and the Brewers closer, Jeremy Jeffers. The Brewers get Lewis Brinson (#21 prospect according to mlb.com), Luis Ortiz (#63) and a PTBNL.
Great deal. Brinson is a really good player and most likely a future star, but Ian Desmond wants to be the Rangers CF for the immediate future and the feeling appears to be mutual. With Choo and Mazara signed on his flanks, the outfield doesn't have an opening. Luis Ortiz is another guy who's hard to see go, as he's got an advanced feel, good command and a great head for baseball. But he's done developing and looks like a #3 guy on a good rotation as opposed to an ace. Both Gallo and Profar stay on the Rangers.
