there is a difference between racism/bigotry, and topics that involve race and/or people that are other than white. this "race thread" has become much more than it seems on the surface, with even topics involving someone other than white having to be moved here.

nobody did reply to this topic from the other thread.

    https://jonathanturley.org/2016/06/1...orlando-vigil/

The University of Missouri (MU) has been struggling in the aftermath of its Black Lives Matter protests, including the reported plunge in students and applications. It appears that even a vigil for the dead in Orlando at Mizzou inevitably leads to a confrontation over race. The conflict arose in a vigil held in front of Boone County Courthouse in Columbia, Missouri. MU graduate Tiffany Melecio appeared and expressed discomfort over speaking before a group with so many white people. When a gay couple objected to introducing divisive race issues, MU Multicultural Center Coordinator Stephanie Hernandez Rivera defended the comments and denounced the gay couple objecting to the introduction of race into the vigil.

Melecio told the mostly-white audience that “I was really nervous to get up here, because there’s a lot of white people in the crowd.” When a couple people laughed, Melecio insisted “That wasn’t a joke.” She then added that “I wish this many people came out to our racial demonstrations and our Black Lives Matter movement, . . . As much as it is awesome that there’s so many people here today, but it’s, like, who are you really here for?”

Melecio proceeded read off facts about prejudice against non-white LGBT people, which she said white people probably wouldn’t know, “because you’re white.”

The result brought a rebuke from Carl Brizendine, a gay man who was attending the vigil with his husband: “We are here to be uniting, not dividing, which is what you are doing now.” Brizendine’s husband is a history student at MU.

The objections to the comments led to the intervention of MU Multicultural Center Coordinator Rivera “I love you so much right now, for getting up here, when so often your voice is unshared and it doesn’t matter. [Then addressing Brizendine] If you feel uncomfortable with the fact the people who are murdered are Latino people, that is a personal problem. You cannot be an ally to a single person, or a part of a person.”

The video has gone viral and triggered a debate about the importance of race rather than sexual orientation in the massacre.

    What do you think?

Black Lives Matter activist hijacked the Orlando vigil held on Monday, using the microphone opportunity to lambast the white attendees who were mourning the terrorist attack that took place last Sunday in Florida.

“I was really nervous to get up here because there’s a lot of white people in the crowd” said the activist, while audience members nervously laughed. “That wasn’t a joke” she added.

“I wish this many people came out to our racial demonstrations and our Black Lives Matter movements. I don’t want to stand up here and be angry, because this isn’t for me, this isn’t for you, it’s for the people that we lost, and the people that we lose tomorrow, and the people that lost yesterday. But I thought I’d take a moment to list out some facts that many of you probably don’t know because you’re white”.

The activist, who would better be described as a protester, then went on to complain about racial tensions in America and belittle the audience that was grieving for the loss of nearly 50 lives.

“As much as it’s awesome that so many people are here today, it’s like who are you really here for” she continued.

One audience member replied that they were there for everybody, before a large round of applause, before another shouted “we are here to be uniting, not dividing, which is what you are doing now” to the protester, before a large group of attendees started shouting at the man for criticising her.

“They’re segregating us” complained one gay attendee in an interview to the College Fix. “Right there on stage they’re segregating us… They are making this a racial issue. It’s not a racial issue… I expected a community to come together, everyone, and I’ve got someone on stage trying to make it all about her culture, and divide the rest. That’s not what this is about.”

“I know people that would go to that club on a regular basis. The issue is why does this have to turn into a Latino versus Caucasian, a Black versus Latino, a Black versus White?” argued his husband. “We need to heal. We’re all hurt. But I’m tired of our community, and when I say community, not only LGBTQ community here, but also our community in Colombia and our community in Mizzou, that everything has to be divided into color, into race… We’re not a unified community, and because of things like that”.

Al Qaeda urges lone wolves to target whites, to avoid 'hate crime' label

would this be better for the race thread? except it specifically doesn't involve minorities.

    http://www.foxnews.com/world/2016/06...ime-label.html

Al Qaeda urges lone wolves to target whites, to avoid 'hate crime' label
Lone wolf jihadists should target white Americans so no one mistakes their terror attacks for hate crimes unrelated to the cause of radical Islam, Al Qaeda writes in the latest edition of its online magazine.

In an article first reported by The Foreign Desk, Al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) called for more self-directed Muslim terrorists to kill in America. But the article, titled “Inspire guide: Orlando operation,” tells terrorists to “avoid targeting places and crowds where minorities are generally found” because if gays or Latinos appear to be the targets, “the federal government will be the one taking full responsibility.”

In the June 12 attack in Orlando, Omar Mateen killed 49 people and injured 53 inside a gay nightclub. Although Mateen, who was later killed by police, told hostage negotiators he pledged allegiance to ISIS, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch has characterized the attack as a hate crime against gays.

“I cannot tell you definitively that we will ever narrow it down to one motivation,” Lynch told reporters last week. “People often act out of more than one motivation.

“This was clearly an act of terror and an act of hate,” she continued. “We will look at all motivations and hope to come to a conclusion there.”

Although Al Qaeda does not take credit for Mateen’s attack in the online article, it urges more “lone wolves” to take up arms. Jihadists should target “areas where the Anglo-Saxon community is generally concentrated,” it states. “This class of the American community is the majority and it is the one that is in the American leadership.”

Al Qaeda is "very carefully threading a needle" by endorsing the attack while criticizing Mateen's target selection, said Ryan Mauro, national security analyst for Clarion Project, a Washington-based nonprofit that tracks the international terror threat.

"This is Al Qaeda's way of asserting itself above ISIS in the wake of its competitor's success," Mauro said.

Inspire magazine often exploits terror attacks in the West and makes threats against Europe and the United States. While the terror group responsible for 9/11 has been overshadowed by rival ISIS in recent years, it praised Mateen for his monstrous act.

“We stand by and support all Muslims who attack America in their homeland regardless of their affiliation to any group or loyalty,” the guide states, though adding that Mateen could have killed even more if he had used bombs in addition to the guns he carried: a Sig Sauer MCX semi-automatic rifle and a Glock 17 handgun.

"Al Qaeda is talking condescendingly toward ISIS while remaining supportive, like a guru of jihad mentoring a reckless amateur," Mauro said.

Al Qaeda to jihadis: ‘Target white Americans, avoid minorities, because US mislabels attacks as ‘hate crime’
Al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has published a guide urging jihadis to carry out more ‘lone wolf’ operations in the U.S. following the deadly terror attack in Orlando earlier this month and to set their sights on the targeting of white Americans.

The publication, “Inspire guide: Orlando operation,” which seeks to capitalize on the terror attack carried out by gunman Omar Mateen who pledged allegiance to ISIS, plainly encourages extremists to attack Americans.

While Mateen chose to target what the guide refers to as a “homosexual nightclub,” noting that killing gay people is “the most binding duty and closer to human nature,” it suggests to “avoid targeting places and crowds where minorities are generally found in America,” because “the federal government will be the one taking full responsibility.”

This refers to the heated debates sparked in the U.S. in the aftermath of the Orlando shooting by media, law enforcement and legislators debating the roles that gun laws, hate crimes and terror each played in the incident.

Instead, the guide advises jihadis to target “areas where the Anglo-Saxon community is generally concentrated. This class of the American community is the majority and it is the one that is in the American leadership.”

The document, published specifically with a targeted message against Americans was released in addition to the group’s periodical “Inspire” magazine, which often exploits terror attacks in the West and makes threats against Europe and the United States.

Historically, Al Qaeda has relied on major plots such as the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and other U.S. targets, but now reminds its readers to move forward “in continuation” of the teachings of Al Qaeda mastermind Osama Bin Laden who advocated for ‘lone wolf’ style attacks.

As the Islamic State has gained global notoriety with its jihadis launching local attacks in the West in places such as Brussels, San Bernardino, Garland Texas and most recently in Orlando, Al Qaeda has long been attempting to play catch-up in staying relevant in competing against other jihadist groups for both recruits and funding.

“We standby and support all Muslims who attack America in their homeland regardless of their affiliation to any group or loyalty,” the guide states, justifying the targeting of American civilians with the suggestion that since they elect and pay taxes to a government with “oppressive polices against Muslims everywhere,” they are a population at “war with Islam,” and can no longer be deemed ‘civilians.’

In the guide, the Orlando attack is referred to as one of “the most successful Lone Jihad operations” and will undoubtedly “inspire others to wage similar operations.”

In conclusion the authors note that while Mateen killed and injured almost a third of attendees at the nightclub, an extremely high tally for a ‘lone wolf,’ he could have killed even more by making explosives if he followed the simple guides that appear in previous editions of the group’s “Inspire” magazine.

This really interests you though I'm sure the fact that they also encourage people to take advantage of our lax gun laws does not interest you.

Could you articulate what you want us to take away from this?

there are multiple different races that make up the minority in America, where white is the majority. some people here at PSD were offended that thread after thread after thread after thread involved a minority race. so these people didn't have to see these threads and be offended some decided to segregate threads involving a minority race into one thread.

nice that you had absolutely nothing to discuss involving the actual topic and were more concerned over me. I figured that would happen, and I bet it will continue.

if this was all about guns there would be no such thing as suicide bombers. it's easier to use guns so they don't have to settle for bombs, but we've seen plenty of examples where they use bombs as well. Omar Mateen not only pledged allegiance to ISIS but he also mentioned the Boston bombers.

the left (and those who support the left) should not continue to act like radical Islam is not a problem and instead trying to put the focus on guns.

it's not about race. these radical Muslims want that to be clear, that they do not want this to be taken as something other than their Muslim ideology.

I mentioned race to start because I don't think this should be moved into that other thread where it would only be buried and likely not get any/many replies, just like numerous other stories that I have posted in the other thread including one just this morning again.

your special thread is called "All Race Related Articles And Discussions". I'm not sure why you thought that because this isn't about a racial minority that it isn't included in All Race Related Articles and Discussions.

nice that you had absolutely nothing to discuss involving the actual topic and were more concerned over me. I figured that would happen, and I bet it will continue.
LMAO I literally addressed the only question you asked in the OP

would this be better for the race thread?
