Bradford will be our starter in 2017 and it is unknown if or when Bridgewater will be playing again.

Supposedly, Manziel is engaged and has cleaned up his act. I was never a fan of his, but what are your thoughts on bringing him in as a backup? It's not like we can't cut him anytime if he doesn't keep his nose clean.

No way on Manziel. It's one thing if he had proven to be an ok player but I don't think he can play in this league. Kinda like Tebow imo.

supposedly clean and actually clean are two different things........he's been supposedly clean before
He's also been supposedly a worthy 1st round draft pick before.
I'd rather bring back Ponder.....and no, I don't want to bring back Ponder.
    gotta love 'referential' treatment

lol, me too. I actually like Ponder as a back up QB. He got a raw deal here in MN for the fact that we took him when we did.

God no. Do you remember when Teddy was injured and Ponder started against GB? He was awful. Ponder is a bad QB. And this is coming from the guy who hoped we drafted him and defended him being picked at #12.

Ponder could be half decent, Ponder could be somewhat decent, but rarely could Ponder be fully decent.
Don't get me wrong, I like Christian.....for the person he is and the wife he found...but not as a QB

What's the news on Nickell Robey-Coleman? I think he'd be a nice fit in the nickel on this team. He actually reminds me a lot of captain munnerlyn in Carolina before we signed him. Undersized nickel back, reads routes well and makes good breaks on the ball, has a nose for the ball, and when he picks one off it usually goes to the house.

This is a good read and funny. I think it sums this thread up pretty damn accurately!

My main argument is that he is better than a lot of the backups in this league and he should be in the league. Sure he isn't great but most backups aren't. My point is that he fits the mold of a backup. Can play good at times but will also have those really bad plays.

Not sure if you guys listen to the Purple Podcast but Matthew Coller interviewed Brandon Thorn from Inside the Pylon. Thorn studies offensive lineman and they discussed o-lineman in FA. This was recorded prior to FA but Reiff and Remmers are talked about a lot. Skip ahead to to the 20:54 mark to get to the Reiff and Remmers talk.

There's something really wrong with the fact Kaepernick is still unsigned

sorry, somehow spike lee got to my keyboard for a minute there.....
That said, there really is a large pile o' crap out there available on the FA QB market
Heineke gonna be ours at this point?

We're not gunna put up with that **** for a backup QB. If he was any good, he'd be starting on a team. Even if he wasn't a side show bob, why would we need to have Bradford, Teddy AND Kaep on the squad?
