Did we actually trade Shane Greene for Didi Gregorius?

And here we are throwing Chase Whitley our there in the fire every week instead

In hindsight, this trade is terrible LOL

    What was Cashman thinking?

Probably that we needed a defensive shortstop. Or, more likely, that we needed a shortstop, period.

Yup. Not hard to understand. And Didi has had a really good spring. Excellent in the field and has shown a better than expected bat.

We do? Adam Warren has pretty much won the job. Don't you think he's good enough to hold over until Crapuano and then Nova get back?

    Wow, perfect timing.

@BryanHoch: Adam Warren is the Yankees' fifth starter, Joe Girardi said.

    Starting SS > #5 starter

Not that hard to see why the deal was made.

    Bingo.

5th Starters are not that valuable.

On average that spot is a platoon of 50-125 IP guys who barely manage sub-5.00 ERA stuff.

Considering that, healthy, this team has:
    Tanaka
    Pineda
    Eovaldi
    Sabathia
    Nova
    Warren
    Capuano

The lack of Shane Greene is not worth missing out on Didi.
We’re pointing out that these statistics breed false narratives, and we value the truth. This isn’t about replacing old numbers with new numbers, or attempting to dissuade anyone from enjoying the aesthetics of the game. It is simply about telling the average fan about the reality of what actually happened on the field. The “Holy Trinity” of baseball statistics fail at this most basic task, and so they are not worth deifying any longer. - Dave Cameron

Didi hits .300/.342/.500 while flashing stellar leather... and you're complaining?

He's the same way in the Giants forum. It's pathetic.

Shane Greene isn't just another arm. He showed promise of being a #3 starter down the line and I know he wasn't much of a prospect to begin with but we all saw the potential in him. He fixed his location for the most part and turned into a stud for us despite a couple poor starts.

    1) I probably post in the Giants forum 5 times a year
    2) I was the first person to say he likes the Odell pick in a thread of constant complaining about picking a future HOF'er at #13. How funny.
    3) I'll bump this thread later on when Didi is on the DL and/or struggling while Shane is dealing
