Lions placed SLB Kyle Van Noy (abdominal surgery) on injured reserve/designated to return.
Van Noy's timeline has never been publicly established, but the Detroit Free Press estimated he'd miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing "core muscle surgery" last week. That would mean he should be ready to rock when first eligible to return in Week 10. The Lions are on bye in Week 9. The Lions will be rolling with Tahir Whitehead after spending the No. 40 overall pick on Van Noy.Tahir Whitehead showed a lot this preseason. Hopefully he's able to hold the spot down until KVN is ready to play.Lions re-signed DE Darryl Tapp.
Tapp was released at final cuts, but returns as a deep reserve/special teamer after the Lions placed rookie SLB Kyle Van Noy on injured reserve/designated to return.
