I wouldn't have thought Thompson was eligible for the practice squad.

The Washington Redskins have no immediate plans to sign rookie running back Lache Seastrunk to their practice squad, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Thompson is fine for the practice squad. If he doesn't play this season, he should be okay for next season as well, considering he hasn't appeared in nine games. Could be wrong on that part though.

The Washington Redskins on Tuesday announced the additions of linebacker Jackson Jeffcoat and Braxston Cave to the practice squad.

Jeffcoat appeared in 40 games with 33 starts at the University of Texas.

As a freshman, he was named honorable mention Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year after posting 15 tackles, six tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

During a highly productive senior season, Jeffcoat earned All-American honors and became the first Longhorn to win the Ted Hendricks Award – given to college football’s top defense end – since current Redskins Pro Bowl linebacker Brian Orakpo. In total, he recorded 86 tackles, 13 sacks and 19 quarterback pressures.

Cave was a member of the New England Patriots’ practice squad last season.

Collegiately, he played at Notre Dame, appearing in 48 games with 35 starts.

During his senior season, Cave helped Notre Dame average more than 200 yards per game in both rushing and receiving en route to third-team All-American honors.
