Road to 53 - final cut thread

Let's use this thread to make cut down predictions, news, and talk about players around the NFL who get cut and the Raiders could use...

    I'll start with this:

    Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 4m
#Falcons are releasing LB Pat Angerer, Iím told. Also cut LB Yawin Smallwood, their 7th rounder. A bit surprising on Angerer, who is healthy

Would love to claim Angerer, I think he would be a better back up then Burnett and Maivaia.

There will be a few defensive pickups, IMO.

Three position groups to watch for us:

WR - Jones, Moore, Streater, Little, Holmes, Butler (1 of Little, Holmes, Butler gets cut IMO)
DB - Woodsone, Branch, Rodgers, Brown, Young, Carrie, Thorpe, McGill, Ross, Chekwa. (Four Safeties? Five CB's?)
TE - Rivera....and maybe Simonson? Ausberry hurt? Kasa hurt?

Yeah. With Ausberry hurt plus Rivera and Simonson as our only healthy TE's, I think we might look to pick up a cut TE.

Buccaneers released DE Larry English, CB Anthony Gaitor, CBs Kip Edwards and Keith Lewis, LB Nate Askew, and OLs Edawn Coughman, Jeremiah Warren, and Andrew Miller.

Former first round pick, English could be intriguing.

I like ILB Smallwood. Played for UConn with Sio Moore. Worked greated together. Followed him last season after watching Sio highlights. Given a season he could probably start over Roach inside.

The Bengals are releasing RB Benjarvus Green-Ellis, going with youth in the backfield and letting the veteran go

As expected really. Drafting Bennard and Hill. No need for the older back.

I went and looked at some stuff on Smallwood. Apparently, he looked good in college but at the pro level he has looked slow and stiff...Could be because he is still adjusting to the pace so he is thinking rather than reacting naturally.

Yeah and we are pretty set at RB so it's not really relevant but I think it is good information to put out there.

I wonder if the Browns will cut that Lewis kid, a RB. I thought he was their best RB this preseason, better than Tate and West.

My first dream already came true - Lucas Nix got kicked out of the building. Now I want to see Jack Crawford, Tony Bergstrom, and Brandian Ross kick rocks. I also wish we would dump SeaBass and McFadden but i know that won't happen.

    Eagles waived RB Henry Josey.
The Eagles may want to stash Josey on their practice squad, but he is a candidate for waiver claims after averaging 6.6 YPC in the preseason and running 4.43 at the Combine. Josey is a dynamic if undersized change-of-pace prospect.
