    Warriors sign Leandro Barbosa

BILBAO, Spain -- ‎Brazil guard Leandro Barbosa has reached an agreement to sign with the Golden State Warriors for the upcoming season, ESPN.com has learned.

Leandro Barbosa, who reached an agreement with Golden State, has previously played for Phoenix, Indiana, Toronto and Boston.
With the Miami Heat also in pursuit, Golden State has secured a commitment from Barbosa on a one-year deal at the veteran minimum, according to NBA front-office sources.

Barbosa, 31, played 20 games last season with the Phoenix Suns, with whom he broke into the NBA in 2003-04. He's also had stints in Indiana, Toronto and Boston.

The Warriors have been looking for guard depth and beat out Miami, among others, to strike a deal with Barbosa even before this weekend's start of the FIBA World Cup in Spain.

Barbosa joins fellow NBA veterans Nene, Tiago Splitter and Anderson Varejao in leading a Brazilian squad that sees itself as a real contender for the championship along with the two consensus favorites: Team USA and host Spain.

Asked recently about his NBA future, Barbosa told ESPN.com: "Man, I'm just really focused on this World Cup."

well only problem with lb is- it looks like he tends to sit out a lot with injuries. and what people dont understand is if a guy is always sitting out- it doesnt really help our depth.

we need a guy who really wants to focus on getting out there and helping the team- not milking minor injuries every chance he gets

Why do you think the FO signed him dude. FO requires players to be old, declining and injury prone to offer a contract.
Look at every major signing in like 3 seasons. They all fit the bill.

Veterans mixed with young talent. Good recipe if you ask me. All young players have the talent, but it takes veterans who know their role to fill out the team.
