    9th Best Pitcher of All-Time

Just like we are doing with position players, we are also doing pitchers.

    Just like in this thread
    http://forums.prosportsdaily.com/sho...3#post28649023

Vote for one player, and nominate someone that isn't on the list that you want to see come up next.

    RULES:
There will be a zero tolerance, one strike policy. If ANY poster is interrupting any of the threads in a negative way, OR causing any problems they're ability to vote will be taken away.
NO POSTING in your FORUM, VOTE for this GUY. We had problems last time with it and NO POSTING in someone Else's Forum to VOTE for a certain player.

Criteria: Take into account both peak and career play, era dominance, impact on the game of baseball, and how well their style of play and skills would transcend onto different eras. Statistical values, team values, etc all matter. To be more exact, how great they were at playing the game of baseball.
So while this thread will be a poll, you vote for one player and then Nominate someone who is not on the list that way as the guys in the original list are selected we know who to add on the subsequent list.

    For example:

If for #1 you vote Ruth, obviously we will see it in the poll, but don't just vote please, have discussion and include a nomination for who you think should be added to the next ranking on the poll.

For me I might vote Ruth #1, and then say Nominate: Honus Wagner to be on the next poll for the #2 player.

    9th Best Pitcher of All-Time

Nolan Ryan shouldn't sniff the top 10. Such an overrated career

^ I agree top 10 is pushing it for Ryan. But I'd say he is in the top 15, which isn't a huge stretch if he did make the top 10.

The longevity is his greatest value.

Marichal is definitely outside of the top 10, and outside of the top 20 pretty easily too.

I'd say top 25-40 range for me.

completely agree with that last point. He just has so many underwhelming years sprinkled through his long career. He obviously has many great seasons and the strikeouts are extremely impressive but one of the ten best pitchers ever? Idts

By all means keep ignoring the reasons stated for why he doesn't deserve it. Please keep feeling that the all time leader in walks (by almost 1,000), and someone who was never considered the best pitcher in baseball (including going up against Seaver) is somehow a top 10 pitcher of all time.

    Nominate: Bert Blyleven

Once again I will point out this is a vote. Not an analysis. There should be no need to defend or question a vote. It is a vote.

Don't want a vote? Then just post career stats with all your metrics and be done with it. Except of course, the metrics really don't account for the Era of competition (or do they?) That in itself is another story

Hence why I said..."by all means..."

You are obviously welcome to your vote and opinion. But when you say things like, "I am just going to keep voting Ryan." When we have gone through lengths to explain why you should change your line of thinking, is the definition of frustrating.

I can vote for Brad Penny if I wanted to. Doesn't make it a good vote, or one that wouldn't be scrutinized. You have yet to explain why you would take Ryan over other aforementioned pitchers. Whose careers clearly trump Ryan's.

But if you want to ignore those reasons, that is your right. But I will continue commenting on how ridiculous it is to vote for Ryan when these guys are still on the list.

For the record Seaver pitched at the same time as Ryan (so no era argument there), and was considered to be the better pitcher...and the numbers back him up as well.
