2014 NBA Mock Playoffs Final: (1) Chicago Bulls vs (2) OKC Thunder

Every summer, PSD holds a game which mocks that year's NBA offseason. This year, users from the site took the reigns of NBA franchises and had to utilize their skills via draft, trades, and free agency to improve their teams. At the end of the game, GMs voted on how they believed the regular season of this game would shake up. These are the playoffs of PSD's 2014 NBA Mock Offseason.

Please take the time to consider each line up, the match-up itself, and vote on which team you believe would win in a seven game series.

    CHICAGO HAS HOMECOURT ADVANTAGE.

Thunder are more top heavy with Durant but the overall starting 5+bench of Chicago kills them. Then you throw in HCA and I have the Bulls.

    Noah>>>>>>>Asik
    Bosh=Aldridge
    Parsons<<<<<<<<<<Durant
Stephenson>Ellis (as an overall player). At worst equal.
    Dragic>>Holiday

Chicago bench>>>>>>>>OKC bench. OKC's depth is horrid.

Our bench isn't the worse there are plenty of decent role players there. Not to mention I don't see how they can stop Durant and Ellis on the offensive end of the court.

Ellis isn't THAT hard to stop TBH. Stephenson is an above average defender at SG who's a lot bigger and more physical. I have a feeling he would give Ellis major problems.

Now that I'm out, I can tlak about how freaking good Chicago is.

This team would dominate in all facets. Elite passing at every position, elite shooting, Elite scorers, and elite defensive anchor with Noah, superior depth. Perfectly crafted starting 5 and compliment to each other's talents.

While OKC has a lot of talent, always thought they wouldn't work offensively.

I still fail to see how we wouldn't work offensively. Ellis consumes a lesser role of what Westbrook did and is the 3rd option.

The Spurs Played Kawhi and Danny on Ellis for most of the first round series and had a hard time stopping him. Kawhi and Green are both better defenders and more physical then Stephenson.

Ellis struggled offensively against the Pacers this year, likely while being guarded by a combo of George Hill and Lance Stephenson. He shot .389 and .375 in those games. He's just not a particularly fearsome #3 option.

On top of that, Aldridge and Ellis both required a lot of volume to get their fill offensively. Aldridge was 10th in USG% and Ellis was 42nd in USG% in the whole league last year. How are they going to co-exist with KD if they need the ball that much to be effective?

Let's talk about the major defensive problems you have too, particularly in rim protection. Asik is a good rim defender, but he's never played more than 30 minutes in a game. You're going to be depending on Pero Antic to come in and protect the rim. Does anyone really think Pero Antic is effective enough to slow down Noah at the rim, not to mention two of the most proficient driving guards in the league in Stephenson and Dragic? Your team is absolutely screwed when Asik is out of the game defensively, and he's going to be a real drain on your team offensively, since he's nearly worthless on that side of the ball.

You also have to consider what an AWFUL match-up Lance Stephenson is for Monta. There's no way Monta can handle Lance defensively. He's giving up 2 inches and 30-40 pounds, and he has never shown to even be an average defensive player. You don't have any help on the bench either. Your wing defense is atrocious.

As for KD, we should be able to rotate a variety of guys on him and at least give him a little bit of trouble. Obviously no one is going to "stop" him, but he's not impossible to slow down a little bit. We'll rotate Parsons, Stephenson, Livingston, and a little bit of Dudley on him. Livingston actually played very well on KD in 2013/14:

Many nights, the Nets ask Livingston to guard the other teamís best player. In their two biggest wins of the season -- at Oklahoma City and at Miami -- Livingston played terrific defense on Kevin Durant and came away with a huge deflection on the Heatís final possession to clinch a Brooklyn victory.

Durant only scored 24 points in that game -- well below his season average -- and well below what he would need to do in this series to keep the Thunder afloat.

Thanks. I suspected this but didn't have the facts to support it .
