    08-10 Lakers

    Brandon Jennings tweeted this:
MJ never won without Pippen. Kobe won 2 rings without another great on his team. Kobe is The Goat
    https://twitter.com/BrandonJennings/...75601921830912
I don't agree with Jennings here and let's not focus on what he tweeted.

Now, the Lakers played at an elite level from 2008-2010 considering the three finals appearances. Who do you credit for their success in those three runs? IMO I think Gasol was the most significant in terms of impact to their playoff successes. While I do credit Kobe, I don't think the Lakers would have achieved much of their success without Gasol. For the sake of it, let's disregard Phil Jackson and focus more on the players.

Jennings is just as smart off the court as he is on the court, it would seem.

    Oh boy...

Gasol should have a Final's Mvp right now.

Kobe along with Phil made everything work. When Bynum was healthy it was hard for teams to match that size.

Also, the Lakers got to play against the Magic in the final's.

Kobe was the definite star of that team, regardless of how well Pau played down the stretch in the finals

    HOWEVER

Those championships were the result of great team play, high basketball iq personnel, and everyone buying into the triangle and defensive schemes. Everyone played to their role and it paid off; albeit with the help of Perkins blowing his ACL, and subsequently, his talent

Literally, the priorities on offense were Triangle, Kobe, and Pau in that order, the triangle just happened to give them both a lot of easy buckets too.

This is coming from a kings fan too btw

This. People seem to underestimate the talent that Kobe had in the paint to support his type of game.

Let's not forget how crucial Lamar was to that team as well. There's no way Pau plays as well as he did without Odom.

I see what you're saying but let's also not pretend as though either of those big men were go to guys at any stretch, especially in crunch time. Kobe was the engine that drove that team and that's not overstating anything.

I really credit Phil and I have to give a lot of credit to Lamar Odom even though his numbers didn't always show it.

Dolan focusing on his music career is the best thing to happen to the Knicks in 15 years.
