    Cardinals (69-57) at Phillies (56-71)

St. Louis Cardinals @ Philadelphia Phillies
Friday, August 22, 7:05 PM EDT , Citizens Bank Park

    Adam Wainwright, RHP

Wainwright became the Majors' second 15-game winner on Sunday but has allowed four or more runs in three of six starts since the All-Star break. He is still pitching deep into games, having gone at least seven innings in 20 of 24 starts.
    Kyle Kendrick, RHP

Kendrick has a 9.00 ERA in the first inning, which is the highest in baseball among pitchers with at least 20 starts this season. He has also allowed eight first-inning home runs, including one Saturday to the Giants' Hunter Pence.
Saturday, August 23, 7:05 PM EDT , Citizens Bank Park

    Shelby Miller, RHP

Miller had five strong innings but one that sunk him in his last start. He allowed four hits and as many runs in a 38-pitch third that was the latest example of an inning imploding for him. Walks continue to be a problem for Miller, too.
    David Buchanan, RHP

Buchanan scattered nine hits, two earned runs and one walk and struck out four in 6 2/3 innings Sunday against the Giants. It was his third consecutive quality start since replacing Cliff Lee in the rotation this month.
Sunday, August 24, 1:35 PM EDT , Citizens Bank Park

    Justin Masterson, RHP

Masterson had a stretch of 11 straight scoreless innings end in the fifth his last time out when he allowed four runs. He continues to work through mechanical issues, the latest being a tendency to let his arm drag too far behind his body.
    Jerome Williams, RHP

Williams has made a good first impression in Philadelphia. After throwing seven innings of one-run ball vs. the Marines on Aug. 18, he has a 2.19 ERA through his first two starts as a Phillie.

If we win 2 of 3 in a series you would expect that Wainwright would be pitching one of the winning games.

Wainwright doesn't look like wainwright tonight, this strike zone is a killer too

Oscar looks brutal. What a bust so far for being the #1 prospect in mlb.

And i still am baffled why Cruz keeps getting the majority of the starts. This dude would not hit water if he fell out of a boat.

Maybe the boat is sitting in someone's garage...

He's a rookie. He's going to have ups and downs. This is typical. Not everyone is Pujols or Puig. They are outliers

In august Pierzynski has started 12 games. Cruz has started 8. Cruz is far from taking the majority. But Pierzynski started a game for wainwright and couldn't handle his curve. So Cruz will be starting for wainwright , his curve breaks too wickedly for Pierzynski, who's never caught it to pick up on in important games. It would be different early on. He will start the majority of games for Lynn, Miller, Wacha if he's back and so on. Fastball guys.

Not that he can't easily catch curveballs but wainwrights is a different level than most

If the Cardinals are going to mess around and miss the playoffs I would rather they not toy with us.

If they had a manager that knew how to manage we'd be in first place right now..

Wong should be on third here, since the outfielder kicked it over the wall.
