Red Sox just gave a 6 year contract at 12 million per year to a league average player?

Could've signed a number of guys this off-season for far less who will give you similar production.

Seems like a high price. Lester couldn't even get a decent deal.

Wow that's a lot of coin for this guy, considering all the reports I've read on him

Surprised he got so much. Any Sox fans have any ideas on where he'll play for them?

Didn't think he'd get more than Abreu.

Not many people thought Abreu would be worth his deal... Lets not act like we know exactly what he will be.

Abreu was way more highly touted, I think Grantland had an article about him when he was in Cuba titled "The Best Hitter You’ve Never Heard Of"

More than I thought he'd get, but the Sox OF is set now, especially if this kid becomes the 20 HR 30 steal guy he's supposed to be

6/72 isn't exactly a franchise contract, they're looking for a 2 WAR player IF you go by the 6 million per WAR thing. If you're like me and question that after hearing an actual high ranking FO man in baseball state that it's closer to 9 million a win in FA then they're not even looking for 2 WAR.

Separate: Castillo is a monster in OOTP.
