    Dumb signings

    Arias - 2 years, 2.6M

    Lopez - 3 years, 13M

Giants are paying Lopez to pitch once a week, while they're paying Arias to not hit the ball out of the infield every other game.

    Dumb signings

Lincecum signing is worth than both of those.

True, but we've talked about Lincecum's contract ad nauseum. I feel that these signings fly under the radar.

I can't believe you started a dumb signing thread and didn't have Lincecum #1.

17 mil for one of the worst pitchers in baseball since 2012.

Affeldt and Casilla were pretty dumb too, in my opinion. If your budget is maxed out, you don't spend 11 mil on two non-elite bullpen arms!

Combine those two with Lopez and Lincecum, that is 30 mil. And yet we wonder why we have a maxed out payroll and no depth!!

I'm not going to say Cain b/c at the time it didn't look horrible, though I didn't think it was necessarily wise either. But at the same time, blowing 20 mil on a guy who was a complete non factor hurts.

We're wasting so much money for such little production this year. We are basically paying market rate, or WAY above, for every ****ing player on the team. Who on this team is even outperforming their salary? Bumgarner is about the only one I can think of. And maybe Machi. Whoopty doo.

And Arias gets a raise next year.

So who will be our next dumb signing?

Obvious guess would be Panda. But I do hope we resign him, even though you know we'll overpay. Second best guess will be Morse. Nothing against Morse really, he's been at least okay, but you know they'll overpay him for sure.

I do, simply because the second year of the deal means he's handcuffed to Bochy. It's moronic to sign bench players to multi-year deals.

I'm going to say that Sabean overpays Emilio Bonifacio & gives Morse more than another one yar deal (which is dumb IMO).

They cut Rowand, they cut Tejada. Cutting Arias and his microscopic contract should be no issue....but yes, they are often cheap, sentimental, and wait too long to make the right move.

Oh yeah, I forgot they sent Rowand packing with $12MM left on his deal. Still surprised they did that, very uncharacteristic for this organization.

And for good reason, you can't acknowledge making bad financial decisions. Making two bad decisions is always better than making one, they kinda cancel each other out..
