Worst Player to Make $100 million in his MLB career

Interesting thread idea in the NBA section

    http://forums.prosportsdaily.com/sho...in-NBA-History

Who would you name as the worst MLB player to make $100,000,000 in his career. Not just one contract. Just in gross income through contracts.

Vernon Wells has made $110,000,000 and has 28 rWAR

    That's pretty rough.

    Anyone else?

Going to be tough because salaries didn't get to $100m until relatively recently. I thought Zito might beat Wells, but he's got about 33 WAR.

Yeah thought the same thing. Adjust for inflation and we might have some better choices.

    An overall bum.

BR shows he made over 131 million, which is even worse.

As much as I can't stand Ryan Howard, I would love a citation on this one. I don't think there is any evidence to support that he was or is a PED user. If you don't have one, best not to accuse players simply because he was a power hitter.

He has lost all of his power because he no longer generates power from his legs after the Achilles injury.

My first thought was Wells, but then I thought of Howard. Wells > Howard by both fWAR and rWAR, which is pretty funny.

I think Carlos Lee probably compares pretty similarly to Vernon Wells. But Howard seems to take the cake. JD Drew shouldn't be mentioned since those guys exist.

Hampton seems to beat out guys like Lackey and Burnett for pitchers.
I no longer care about anything here except for the Entertainment Forum, which sucks; the Music forum, which sucks; and the Magic forum, which does NOT suck.

    I nominate 37 year old A-Rod

    37: 0.5 WAR, 28M
    38: 0 WAR, 2.8M
    39: ? WAR, 21M
    40: ? WAR, 20M
    41: ? WAR, 20M

92M, needs just 6 HR for 660 where he starts earning milestone bonuses up to 30m

Jason Bay would have been an easy answer here but he only got a 66 million dollar deal.

I'll go with Wells, he was just brutal
