if someone claimed him id think long and hard about letting him go

    yep

im sure david wright, matt harvey, jacob degrom etc... will all get placed

its a procedural move designed to help let certain players pass through unoticed cuz the list is too long (sad but true)

No one is going to claim him. If they did we would have to let him walk maybe even encourage him to run.

Why, yes they do...but you knew that.

If someone with money to spend claimed Granderson, the Mets could just dump his salary lol.

Granderson has done what the Mets should have reasonably expected from him. And they have nobody to replace what he provides.

Pretty much. Sometimes as a smoke screen, but sometimes to gauge interest in a player. If someone claimed Granderson and offered three top ten prospects...bye bye Curtis. You never know.

    Granderson placed on revocable waivers.

If the Mets traded Granderson, (which likely won't happen) it'll set a poor example for the club. It's kind of like "hey, we signed you, now we're gonna trade you. Sorry but goodbye."

That's also why I'm a little hesitant about trading Colon so immediately, other free agents would probably take note of that.
