I don't believe it. Too good to be true. I expect his arm to be amputated tomorrow.

IF Tanaka comes back and IF Pineda does too and IF Phelps' injury is only minor...

    Tanaka
    McCarthy
    Pineda
    Kuroda
    Phelps

That doesn't look half bad at all.

This is excellent news. The team's playoff and championship aspirations are pretty much contingent upon Tanaka's full recovery. Here's to hoping there are no setbacks and he comes back at his previous level of dominance.

Even if we made the playoffs, there is virtually now way I see us having any chance at advancing without Tanaka. So far the news on him and Pineda have been positive. Let's hope for the best.

Girardi: tanaka will play catch again tomorrow, with more distance and intensity.

Wow I figured they'd at least give him one day off after making the 50 tosses today. They must be pretty optimistic about his progress.

According to an update from RAB, he actually only threw 25 pitches from 60 feet off flat ground.

I guess that's why they're comfortable with having him throw with increased distance and intensity again tomorrow.

I hope he makes it back but I will be holding my breath. I was watching MLB Tonight which had a clip of him throwing today. The whole panel said he was way too tentative for tossing that easily and although they all hope he makes it back they said it was not a good sign. Better than no discomfort but much too tentative for that level of just tossing. They were right...you could see the apprehension in his face.

I'd hate to see him come back and do some serious damage. That would be a serious waste. Maybe he should just call it a season. I was so stoked when we signed him and he is a star and it is not worth the risk.
'Real' Yankee fans tell the truth about the team whether it is nice or not.

"Well, that kind of puts a damper on even a Yankee win."
