    Detroit Tigers (61-47) @ New York Yankees (57-53) // [8/4/2014 - 8/7/2014]

    ---------

------Detroit Tigers ---at--- New York Yankees

    Venue:

    Game 1

Monday, August 4, 7:05 PM EDT , Yankee Stadium

    Max Scherzer vs Brandon McCarthy

    -----

Scherzer: Scherzer is 5-0 with a 2.08 ERA over his last seven outings, including seven innings of one-run ball against the White Sox on Wednesday night at Comerica Park. However, he has a 5.17 ERA in three regular-season starts at Yankee Stadium.

McCarthy: A change of scenery has agreed with McCarthy, who is 3-0 with a 2.55 ERA in four starts as a Yankee. He is coming off his roughest outing with New York, allowing four runs and nine hits in six innings at Texas on July 29.

    Game 2

Tuesday, August 5, 7:05 PM EDT , Yankee Stadium

    David Price vs Hiroki Kuroda

    -----

Price: Price will make his Tigers debut against an old division rival from his six-plus years with the Rays. He's 10-5 with a 3.66 ERA in 24 outings against the Yankees, including 6-2 with a 3.57 ERA in 12 starts at Yankee Stadium.

Kuroda: Kuroda is coming off a solid July in which he held opponents to a 3.38 ERA and .252 batting average in six starts. He took a loss last time out, a quality start against the Rangers in which he went seven innings.

    Game 3

Wednesday, August 6, 7:05 PM EDT , Yankee Stadium

    Justin Verlander vs Chris Capuano

    -----

Verlander: The hitter-friendly dimensions of new Yankee Stadium have been decidedly unkind to Verlander, who has given up seven home runs over 31 innings in five career outings there -- including a pair in each of his last two visits.

Capuano: Capuano will be making his third start since being acquired by the Yankees, who have lost both of his outings so far. The Red Sox knocked Capuano for four runs and eight hits over 6 1/3 innings last time out.

    Game 4

Thursday, August 7, 1:05 PM EDT , Yankee Stadium

    Rick Porcello vs Shane Greene

    -----

Porcello: Porcello has a chance to match his career high in wins with family and friends from his home state of New Jersey looking on. He's 5-1 with a 1.99 ERA over his last seven starts, but has never won at Yankee Stadium.

Greene: Greene bent but did not break in his last outing, recovering from a three-run second inning to give the Yankees 4 2/3 innings on Aug. 2 at Boston. He is 2-1 with a 3.72 ERA in five starts after making his big league debut as a reliever.

    Nice IGT.

Bunch of losers pitching for the Tigers. Yanks crush them and sweep.

Depends on how you look at it; Potential to be brutal but also really good if the Yanks can either split (or more) against a top tier team.

Anyone see that the Yankees were looking to acquire Dustin Ackley?

Mariners wanted Bryan Mitchell so Yankees passed and acquired Prado instead.

The Tigers should have a much better record than what they currently have. I bet we give these bastards trouble in this series.

We need to exploit their weak bullpen. We gotta keep score close and then pounce Jubba the Hut, Soria and Nathan!
