If Thomas can't go this year then the Colts interior depth is even worse than originally believed.

As bad as this is....we will soon see if Grigson's drafts are going to make him look really good or really bad. On the bright side...if Mewhort and Thorton along with Holmes play well we are set on interior lineman for quite a while.

So is the line now shaping up to have three guys who've played in 17 games and had 12 starts? Ouch. Not a good sign, but if Mewhort, Holmes, and Thornton can play up to their potential, the offensive line will be set for several years. I'm hoping the first pre-season game gives us all some room to breath with quality play.

The hope is Holmes becomes Jeff Saturday, Thornton doesn't become a liability now that he's at his natural position, and Mewhort solidifies it all.

The issue is, what if one of these players get hurt in a game? Do we really want to see Lance Louis (Who will probably get hurt as well) in a game?

It's imperative Colts bring in another veteran option.

Definitely an "out of the box" approach to protect our franchise QB.

I completely agree...I just think they will bring someone in once they figure out if they need to be looking for a starter or just depth. It's also that time where you are settling for someone with an issue somewhere be it injury history or whatever with who is on the market if you want to bring them in now, or you can wait and hope a better option gets cut in week 2 or 3 and they won't see much camp or preseason time. I can think of one or two 35+ year old guys and someone like Carl Nicks who we would need a plan C to back him up since he has played 9 games the past 2 years. I don't see anyone coming in soon unless they want to test Nicks' health and have enough time to go to plan C if needed.

Consistency with the O-Line is key, and that is how the group will build chemistry throughout training camp/pre-season. I'm happy this happened before ANY pre-season games rather than Week 5 of the regular season. Get Mewhort in there asap and let's get this thing moving.
