Raps n Will Cherry agree to 2 yr deal

reports that raps n will cherry have agreed in principal to a 2 yr deal .. League minimum

The Raptors signed Will Cherry to a two-year deal.
It's at the minimum and for the second year in a row the Raptors sign a point guard who impressed at summer league. They already waived Dwight Buycks earlier this month, so Cherry essentially takes his place and could fall on the depth chart as the third point guard. He performed very well at summer league, averaging 12.8 points, 4.0 boards, 3.0 assists and 0.2 steals on 52.1 percent from the field.

Yea, not surprised at all. They were interested in him and had an open spot at 3rd PG.

Roster is set by the looks of it:

    Lowry/Vasquez/Cherry
    DeRozan/Williams/Fields
    Ross/J. Johnson/Caboclo
    A.Johnson/Patterson/Hansbrough
    Valanciunas/Nogueira/Hayes

Welcome Will. Can't help but wish you were a foot taller.

It's nice to know that Masai can convince a guy like this to come to Toronto instead of playing with Lebron though.

@IAmDPick: David Blatt pressed to Israeli teams to snatch Cavaliers SL guard Will Cherry. Now en route to deal with Raptors.

So our off-season is basically over, unless Masai can somehow get a better backup C, but there's basically no one for that right now.

Kinda wish we got a hold of Blatche, he's a dumbass but talented as well.

He probably won't play much, but if Lowry or Vasquez get injured, he's a solid 10 min option since I don't want Lou Will with the ball too much.

yup, realistically, just some unknown player but showed some talent to fill out the bench. low risk high reward - just like Buycks and Stone.

    expect nothing pretty much.

What type of player is he? I only like 3rd strings if they are pure defenders or shooters.

Should have just signed Brady Heslip as our 3rd Pg.

    Think of the clubhouse!

Seriously though, I don't mind this pick up. We are talking about a 15th man and a 3rd string PG. Give it to a guy who wants to prove something. It only really matters in practice or if there is a significant injury to Vasquez or Lowry.

meh, most likely will be a bench warmer. Still not happy with our front court depth. I guess they are planning to use bebe a lot.

I'm wondering if Masai saw something with last years group he wanted to change. Cherry probably combines the skills of Buycks and Stone with some additional court awareness. For some reason I feel like Masai is correcting something in the locker room. My guess is Lowry didn't like going against Buycks or Masai wants cherry to push Lowry and or Vasquez. I'm thinking it to keep Lowry engaged which proved to be key this season. IMO.
