Replaces, I guess, Petit in the rotation?

I don't think this move sways the NL West in the Giants' favor.

    Peavy dealt to SF

Get #2 prospect Edwin Escobar and #7 prospect Heath Hembree for Peavy.

As a Dodger fan I don't mind this trade for the Giants at all.

Except that, since the Dodgers are trying to pick up a starter, it continues to establish the price to acquire a starter as quite high.

Peavy might revive himself in the NL but he hasn't been very good this year. He's pitched pretty well recently but overall he's been poo.

I have no clue how Cherrington got prospects with that much upside for 3 months of him lol. Escobar has struggled this year but he's got some really exceptional potential. Ceiling of a #2/#3 starter.

    Peavy dealt to SF

Giants gave up way too much for a mediocre starter.

Thank you Sabean, I expected to get C type prospects in return for Peavy. He gives up a ton of homeruns, SF is probably one of the best fits for him.

Escobar has looked over matched this year in AAA.

Escobar doesn't have a #2 ceiling, more like a #3 and even that is unlikely.

@ProfessorParks: Edwin Escobar was highly overrated last season because of his AA numbers. Scouting didn't back up stats. It's a soft back-end profile.

Still a great return. Two useful pen guys w control at the least.

Giants gave up a good return for a guy with a 4.81 FIP.

I don't get why the giants do this. They give up a potential late inning reliever when they could use one, and their rotation doesn't even improve.

I think it's a pretty tough trade to defend, well see if BB can help Peavy. His HR/9 has been a problem but moving to the NL West will help him there. Still should've been less coming Boston's way.

Peavy made 12 quality starts for us, 12QS is good here in this division.

Because Sabean refuses to get depth in the offseason and the has to pay for it with prospects during the season.

I guess every GM has their annoying tendencies. It's not like this trade will kill SF in the long run at all, but can obviously understand frustration coming from Giants fans here.
