    Buccaneers Release Carl Nicks

    Rotoworld

    Carl Nicks - G - Free Agent
    Buccaneers released OG Carl Nicks.
Per FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, the sides reached an "amicable settlement," which probably best translates as an injury settlement. Nicks is dealing with a career-threatening toe injury. Still only 29 years old, his NFL future is in serious doubt, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Friday Nicks has decided to "step away from the game," though he has not yet formally retired. Nicks was owed a $7 million base salary. The Bucs now have the weakest depth chart at offensive guard in football, with Oniel Cousins, Patrick Omameh, Jamon Meredith, and rookie Kadeem Edwards competing for two starting spots. It's a major concern for the efficiency of their run game.

Don't worry, they'll just sign another Pro Bowler to take his place.

That's a shame. The dude was a stud in NO. I mean, I'm glad he didn't help a division rival, but it sucks that he's losing his career after having such a great start.

He probably just got a pretty large injury settlement so that he wouldn't sue the Bucs. He'll be looking for another NFL job in a year or two anyways.

And when they got revis, and when they got that other pro bowler ...cause pro bowlz = ringz.

I remember everyone saying they would have the best secondary because of Revis.

That sucks so bad for both him and that team. Not another guard in football I'd take over a healthy Nicks, in fact its not even close. ****** situation.
