    Cardinals (54-57) at Cubs (41-59) July 25-27

St. Louis Cardinals @ Chicago Cubs

Friday, July 25, 3:05 PM CDT , Wrigley Field
    Joe Kelly, RHP

In his second start since coming off the DL, Kelly threw a career-high seven innings. He recorded 15 of his 21 outs on the ground, a credit to a strong sinker. He also fixed some mechanical issues that he believed had been leading him to tip pitches.
    Travis Wood, LHP

It's been a struggle this season for Wood, who ranks third in the NL in walks. He is 0-4 in his last six starts. Pitching coach Chris Bosio would like to see Wood get back to basics and challenge hitters more. The problem is command, or lack of.
Saturday, July 26, 3:05 PM CDT , Wrigley Field
    Shelby Miller, RHP

Miller will be making his first start since July 10, as the Cardinals briefly removed him from the rotation in order to get their second-year starter some rest. Miller starts the second half looking to limit the walks and be more efficient.
    Jake Arrieta, RHP

Arrieta somehow struck out eight over 6 2/3 innings in his last start despite being weak from a three-day battle with the stomach flu. He took the loss, only his third in 14 starts. He served up three runs to the Diamondbacks.
Sunday, July 27, 1:20 PM CDT , Wrigley Field
    Adam Wainwright, RHP

Wainwright is coming off his second shortest start of the season and one in which he walked four and allowed five runs for just the third time in his career. His biggest issue was not repeating his delivery, something he should be able to fix.
    Kyle Hendricks, RHP

Hendricks picked up his first Major League win in his second start. He threw seven scoreless innings, giving up five hits and striking out five. The right-hander was able to pound the zone, which is key for him, and keep the walks to a minimum.
Sorry for the late thread. I'm away from home right now.

Big series, these are the type of series we need to pad our record

Also, Matheny continues to idiotically play Craig over Taveras. Rewards him with a first inning caught looking. Good thing we play the line up that gives us the best chance to win now....

Good start though. 3-0 after 1/2

Home runs by Carpenter and Holliday and we are tied.

Craig now 0-3 today with 2 strike outs, not surprising

This seems to be the general feeling across Cardinals fans. I agree.

Cannot beat the mighty scrubbies. Pathetic. Not surprising since its their world series and the Cards have always played like crap in chicago. This team is slowly fading away.

Yeah. We are fading after 4 games, we should just close the coffin and let them start our burial. We are a dead team in late July, a whole what, 4 games out of the division and what? 1.5 of the wild card? Yeah. It's over with 9 weeks left

Anyway, Matheny has a ****ing awful day managing. This was one of his masterpieces

Good answer skipppy. If a major move is not made this team will not make the playoffs this year. If you do not think so....puff puff give...or join the delusional fan club.

Or you know, we keep we get healthy or guys start playing more consistently

This is why your posts are hilarious. They're ridiculously and hilariously negative. Anytime something bad happens it's completely over.

You're literally this forums Charlie Brown constantly trying to figure out why things are always so down and horrible and seem very sure there will be no sun coming up tomorrow lol

If it makes you feel better the Cardinals are about to sign Pierzynski.

    It's an interesting move.

Bringing Bourjos in to pinch hit with 1 out in a 1 run game wasn't a good decision. Sure, Bourjos could have delivered, but I thought he was going to strike out or pop it up. Descalso is a much better situational hitter

Hit and run with the pitcher up and catcher on first was bad

Pinch hitting Taveras and then not subbing him into RF for Craig was bad

When he used Bourjos was bad

Matheny was just a ****ed up mess today.

    Cardinals (54-57) at Cubs (41-59) July 24-26

One of my inside sources has told me that there is a huge rift growing between Matheny and Mo.
