Thumbs up The Official 2014 Raiders Preseason Thread

Post all preseason stuff in here so we don't have a chicken-pox like rash of new threads.

So, with Burnett's dismissal, we get an extra 3.5 in salary cap relief...let the cuts begin.

Hopefully Hayden's foot will heal and he get's back onto the field soon!

I agree hope we sign the missing pieces we need for a successful season. Let the games begin.

And you are what your record says you are.
Sure liked the two years before DA and RM 1 game away from playoffs.
And some say we are better off today.

I want a good vet tight end, and 1 or 2 vet cb's with that 13 million in cap space

Thats my roster at the moment. Key notes is Murphy TE making roster over Kasa. Kasa has shown nothing to make him worth keeping. Murphy is a better blocker and has more experience at the position. Considered putting Kasa on the PS but dont like him. Chances are he makes the actual team but feel hes not better then UDFA Murphy. The ST specialist means they can be back ups at their postion but main reason they are on the roster is their ability to play special teams. I did keep Bergstrom on the roster and I know he doesnt fit the scheme but chances are he gets one more year to show his worth. Chances are low he gets cut.

Depending on who gets cut throughout pre season some minor changes may occur but rarely does a player worth the 53 get found after cuts. Some players may be worth taking over the practice squad spots though.

After pre season if our roster looks like this Id be happy. Sure it could be better but we only have so much to work with.

McCants was the guy I would of added if I didnt add Bergstrom. McCants I do like. Felt he has a descent chance to make the squad. Just didnt see Raiders going into the season with 9 offensive lineman.

I hear you. He is said to offer the coveted versatility so it will be interesting to see who wins out. Bergstrom is under serious pressure.

You're right. Why doesn't McKenzie strap on his TE&CB helmet, squeeze down into a TE&CB helmet cannon and fire off into TE&CBland where TEs&CBs grow on little TEies&CBies?

Yea McCants really the only guy who has time at Center for a back up spot too which does increase his chances at making the roster. Still he will have to battle with Berstrom for the spot. Really dont see the other 7 losing out on a roster spot. I mean we could go in with 9 but thats too much for that position really on the main squad.

You know I was always wondering, if not for depth sake, maybe as yet another veteran/semi-veteran for Hayden to understudy, why when we traded Pryor to Seattle, we didn't try to work out a trade for one of their young CB's, they certainly have/had enough. Not sure what a fair trade would have been, but Pryor+mid to late should have done it.
