Can anyone rationalize a head coach has still not been appointed yet?

Among the many other questionable moves by the FO, this one really takes the cake.

I can maybe see why the position was vacant during courting of big named FA's (even though I think that also shows the lack of direction) but fine, whatever. But now that summer camp has started out, why isn't the future coach out there evaluating the talent and seeing what the young players can do? If its a foregone conclusion that Byron Scott is the man for the job, why hasn't he been hired already?

Since I'm at a loss, I was wondering if anyone else has a more logical explanation.

    Summer camp?

And what would the coach do for the next few weeks?

And it might be that Byron is the guy and those "interviews" were just meetings. And there's a rumor that Byron is still being paid by Cleveland. If that's true why hire him now? Wait a few weeks.

I can't rationalize anything about the direction in which this franchise is headed in.

Maybe they're waiting for Doc to leave LAC to offer him the position? I read that DOC wants out if sterling doesn't sell.

I don't know, establish a rapport with his new guys, the organization re-establish that relationship with Laker fans since the only thing he did last yr for us was be Chris McGee's puppet on TWC?

It's been Scott since day one after being questioned on Access SportsNet. Don't know why FO is taking so long when Scott has wen the leading man the whole way thru. Just hire already. And coach Doc is a good suggestion depending how the sterling carousel goes.

I was thinking the same thing. Doc is another person the lakers have been wanting for a while. When Boston gave him that last extension it's believed that was done to keep him away from the lakers

It's not like camp is opening next week. For all we know the lakers have already informed him. Or the lakers are awaiting the outcome of this clippers mess.

Hope he does. We'd definitely get a top 5 pick next year.
