    Graham-Gate Over!

Four years, $40M and $21M guaranteed. Got him through the season where he turns 31. Also read this interesting tidbit:

"Prior to last season, the Saints made Graham an offer that would have eclipsed the record-setting $54 million, six-year deal given to New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski."

I'm guessing they meant per year average pay. If they meant more than $54M, Graham needs to fire his people.

When I read 4 @ 40, I thought I read it wrong. Did we just get a major steal here? I was expecting a deal somewhere around 6 @ 80 or something with maybe 40 guaranteed. Something crazy. Can't believe how cheap he signed for.
Then again, I don't know what he was supposed to get.

He gets paid 13 million this year (12 million for signing, 1 million salary for a cap hit of 4 million), 8 million next year (but cap hit jumps)

Welcome home Jimmy Grabs! Time to get to work.

I think this is a great deal for both the Saints and Graham he gets paid and for the Saints they could have paid a lot more.

I think Graham also knew that not many teams could get the production from him that the Saints get.

Micky is a genius for structuring deals with more guaranteed money. The dead money really helps with the cap situation, people ask how Micky's a ninja and gets guys like Byrd signed and then have enough money to re-up Jimmy while being in cap "hell", this is how. It's all contract structure and organization. Different cap hits/guaranteed money in different years for different players allow you to do this.
